My wife knew this guy well, as her first husband (and father of my 2 step-children) was his Cousin Geno... the one this guy was apparently talking to on the cellphone when he croaked.

My wife's ex, 2nd from the left. Looks just like his newly-deceased cousin:
I used to be on pretty good terms with him (because I'm step-dad to his 2 kids) until about 10 years ago when he fell on hard times and asked me to cosign a mortgage for him... which I declined. Oh well.

Joe Pesce was actually a combination of two real life gangsters.
The one he most represented in the movie was a BIG guy which is kind of ironic.
Story has it his friend’s kid was crying cause the ice cream man passed him by without stopping. He took the kid in the car, found the ice cream man and said he’d kill him if he ever drove by the kid again.
Me, I personally would have just bought the kid a cone.

Joe Pesce was actually a combination of two real life gangsters. Henry Hill said the real guy who was played by Pesci was way crazier and more dangerous than the character in the movie.
Maybe he was exaggerating, I don't know.
