The University of Houston's Student Government Vice President has been sanctioned following a social media controversy.
Vice President Rohini Sethi's five sanctions include a 50-day suspension beginning Aug. 1, mandatory attendance of the Libra Project diversity workshop, mandatory attendance of three cultural events per month, a reflection letter and a public presentation in the Senate Meeting on Sep. 28.
The Student Government President Shane Smith was given a one-time power to determine Sethi's suspension by the Student Senate. It was passed with 13 votes of approval, two against and one abstaining. He released the letter below.
Between the Senate Meeting and the sanctions' announcement, five more days of suspension were added.

The controversy began after Sethi posted, "Forget #BlackLivesMatter; more like #AllLivesMatter" in a now deleted Facebook status.
Members of the University of Houston's student body called for Sethi's removal, but impeachment proceedings would be a long process. According to the SGA constitution, it would take three-fourths of the senators, or unanimous decision between the president and speaker of the house, a now-vacant position, to nominate her for impeachment. Then, she would stand trial in the Supreme Court.
I understand your not contributing. But, will you be sending the Association a letter explaining why?
(Not that it will do much good by itself, but if that became more of a trend, universities would take notice. Otherwise, they just think you are cheap, rather than outraged.)
They are so stupid they do not realize forcing groupthink will not make people love BLM supporters.
Race baiters and the politically correct: stupidity with a side order of douchbaggery.
So, the University of Houston’s Student Government Association thinks some lives do not matter? How very cool of them.
And by cool, I mean ignorant and total-suck-ups. But I bet they all have a 4.0 GPA, haha. That is the value of a college education these days.
Suspension from what? From school? Or from the retarded student council?
I fear the Political Correctness that has been instilled in this nations young people is irreversible and will destroy the 1st Amendment.
Will we soon have to use 2A to restore 1A?
Suspended from the Student Council. They don't have any real power. Yet.
#LiberalThugsMatter.
They will punish those who do not obey. Today’s petty tyrants will be frightening when they rise to positions of power, and many of them will. Decent people want to be productive, which often sends them into business where they produce wealth and make the world better. Thugs want power over others, which is why so many liberals go into politics, the media, and academia. America is in grave danger, not just today but for the next several generations.
University of Houston Student Government President Shane Smith is now sanctioned as a sniveling, gutless coward traitor.
“You don’t have to suspend me. I quit. I’m going to stop wasting my time with this meaningless organization, spend more time on my studies and graduate far above you clowns” - correct response
Big drama at Cougar High.
These SJWs are going to destroy the nation.
Wow. How controversial, racist, hateful. If I were he (she?), I'd leave the school.
Fascists. Flip em the finger and laugh in their face. Its the only answer. Trump has shown the way.
Ms. Sethi must make a public presentation on Sept. 28.
My advice to her: Read aloud the First Amendment to the Constitution. Then read aloud a short passage from Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago.
Then tell them you’re transferring schools, and they can all go to hell.
I believe she is an Indian or her parents are from India. So, a “woman of color” is receiving the treatment usually dished out to white people.
Just remember, these little a-wipes will be the government in about 15 years or less. Just stay ready for the inevitable fights when they try to force compliance. They will bring a nasty government that will happily use force against you.
Indians are essentially treated as whites. This is because they are hard working and successful. They aren’t criminals. Who ever heard of an Indian crime menace? They open restaurants, become doctors, buy hotels, work hard.
To the lesser peoples in America, that means “white”. They literally associate underachieving and crime with authentic non whiteness.
So is the Houston “media” and student newspapers et al defending this woman for her freedom of speech?
Or does the First Amendment just apply to them?
