Saying the world does not need to be squeaky clean, temps me to think you’re saying this doesn’t really matter.
It does matter. It matters because others will be exposed to this nonsense, and it matters because things always get worse if you don’t stand up and confront them.
God helps those who help themselves.
I’m saying that God’s plan is promised to get around a dirty world. Not that we shouldn’t try to bring holiness into the world. So please watch your presumptions.
And whenever someone quotes that non biblical maxim, I always ask him or her to explain. What do you mean.
The trouble with a “help themselves” credo is that our own self will, even when we think it has the most excellent basis, will not drive God’s provisions.
God MAY, MAY, MAY, MAY provide as we wish. Attempts to get it are not wrong. But He may not, when that would lead us into a path that is not as HE wishes. We should always be open to that — it means less fighting against God.
