Paul Ryan Gets Standing Ovation at Koch Donors Retreat After Repudiating Trump’s Trade Policies

JANESVILLE, WI — House Speaker Paul Ryan received a standing ovation from wealthy donors after denouncing the views of Republican voters, who are skeptical of so-called “free trade” deals.

Speaking at a lavish retreat for 400 donors hosted by a network helmed by libertarian billionaires Charles and David Koch, Paul Ryan suggested it was incumbent upon the Party to “repudiate” the views of Republican voters, who do not support Ryan and his donors’ trade agenda.

Ryan reportedly assured donors that he will work to “win some of these fights” and advance their agenda on trade — presumably meaning that Ryan plans to push through the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, supported by GOP donors.

The Washington Post reports that Ryan’s message was warmly received by those in attendance at the elite retreat — noting that Ryan was “clearly a favorite” amongst the network of donors:

The House speaker is clearly a favorite of the Koch donor network, and he was received with a standing ovation and whoops. The audience interrupted him several times with hearty applause.

Echoing the sentiment of Washington conservatives such as talk radio host Mark Levin, Ryan expressed his concern to donors that the Republican Party has been taken over by progressive populists, who fail to understand the benefits of multinational “free trade” deals.

Ryan told donors that the views of these voters must be “repudiated.”

“We are flirting with various forms of progressivism, and there are Republican forms of progressivism. Teddy Roosevelt was a Republican,” Ryan said. “We have to thoroughly debunk it, repudiate it.”

On what grounds could they impeach Trump?

I don’t know what Ryan is up to, but I don’t like it.

It’s long past time guys/gals on our side of the political line start recognizing so that we can deal with effectively people like Paul Ryan. There are many like him in the Republican Caucuses in the house and Senate.

What must happen is “our side” must start digging deeper into the past of any “pretty boy” or gal running to sit in the house chamber or Senate.

Forums like FR and many others have to start earlier screaming loud and long and daily about WHO an announced candidate really is!!!

Being honest, Ryan is like a grass snake. There are many varieties of that snake and until knowledgable people look at the snake real real closely no conclusions should be come too. Otherwise, like Ryan, we get bitten by putting the wrong snake in office.

Ryan wants to run in 2020. He wants Trump to lose and he knows with a Hillary win and the certain economic collapse any GOPe can win.

We need tariffs and deregulation. Tariffs are like training wheels. They will come down eventually. We need to show the globalists whose boss.

Funny because Free Trade is the stated Marxist position. Marx was a staunch Free Trader.

George Washington signed this into law:

"Whereas it is necessary for that support of government, for the discharge of the debts of the United States, and the encouragement and protection of manufactures, that duties be laid on goods, wares and merchandise:"[1]

Nationalism and Globalism are mutually exclusive philosophies. You have to choose between one or the other.

If you are running for State or Federal Office, you do not ethically have that choice. The oath to uphold the Constitution is absolutely inconsistent with the Globalist philosophy. Trump gets it. Mrs. Clinton & the whipped cur Republicans do not.

What Ryan in his pandering to wealthy donors--blabbing out what he knows they want to hear--is actually accomplishing, is to demonstrate that he is unable to put current issues in a current context, as well as failing to understand the complexity of Teddy Roosevelt's "Progressivism." There are all sorts of contextual issues here, that he is completely ignoring.

In trying to make his pandering simplistic, he has tarnished his image from that of a bright and rising figure to that of a whipped cur simpleton.

As I have previously confessed, I thought Paul had a bright future before he ran for Vice President. It is very sad to be so terribly wrong. But this is very sad.

Evidently Ryan and his bosses haven’t gotten the message!

Another H-1B Manager logging on, they got huge homes like the Antebellum slavemasters did.

America was built on Tariffs, read your history book.

“On what grounds could they impeach Trump?”

Anything that they can come up with. What they are doing to Trump and with it the American people is a travesty. We have before us the most corrupt body politic since the Roman empire. Even the Soviets would be proud of how our media bastardized the first amendment to mean free speech for me but not for thee.

At one point we were worried about Communists. That has been supplanted by the Communists, Fascists and Crony Capitalists morphing into the Globalists, with the upper echelons of the elite in the US playing a big part. They bought eight solid years of decimating western civilization by using racial politics and are going to now use gender politics to continue the destruction of western civilization.

The minute we can no longer defend ourselves from the tyranny of government is minute when we will be persecuted and put into camps. And people are sitting there with their collective thumbs up their arses going, “where’s my free sh*t?”

I agree the left hates Trump, and that if Clinton II is elected, we are pretty much done, short of CWII.

But I have a little more hope for how things can change if Trump is elected. He’ll be in a position to appoint a couple SC justices at least, which ought to help start things back in the right direction. The only question is whether he’ll do what he says he’s going to do. For all I know, this could be one big show, and he may turn out to be as bad or worse than the alternative.

But even if that comes to pass, we’ll still have the same end result as if we had continued down our current path of lefty globalists and fake conservatives. We’ll just get there a little sooner.
