Dakota Meyer tells Trump to say sorry to Khan family and 'act like the Commander-in-Chief'
Daily Mail ^ | August 3, 2016 | Chris Kitching

Dakota Meyer, the son-in-law of Sarah Palin and a Medal of Honor recipient, has called on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to apologize to the family of slain US Army Capt. Humayun Khan.

Meyer, a Marine Corps veteran and the second youngest living person to receive the military's highest honor, joined the backlash and blasted Trump for criticizing Khan's father and mother after they appeared at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary Clinton last week.

'If @realDonaldTrump wants to be the Commander in Chief, he needs to act like one,' Meyer wrote in a tweet to his 73,000 followers. 'And that cant start until he apologizes to the Khans.'

Clinton retweeted Meyer's tweet for her eight million followers. Her campaign has seized on the controversy, and members of Trump's own party have turned against him or distanced themselves from him.

Meyer, 28, who is married to Bristol Palin, the daughter of 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has been involved in Republican politics and backed Senator Ted Cruz for the nomination.

President Barack Obama awarded Meyer, a former Marine Corps corporal from Columbia, Kentucky, the Medal of Honor in 2011 for his heroic actions during a six-hour battle with the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2009.

Trump has angered politicians on both sides of the political spectrum after he made critical remarks against Khan's father, Khizr, who spoke at the DNC, and mother, Ghazala, who appeared on stage with him. Meyer was awarded the military's highest honor for his heroic actions in Afghanistan

Their 27-year-old son was killed in a suicide attack while serving in Iraq in 2004. The Muslim soldier was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Apologize for what? We keep hearing that Trump “attacked” the Khans. What were the attacking statements specifically?

Apologize for what? They made an unprovoked attack on him and he can’t comment in response?

“Asking Dr. Drew on tv if Trump is insane is ALL WE NEED TO KNOW.”

One of the reasons I hate the pseudo-science “psychiatry”. They invent syndromes to foil what God plainly calls SIN. They have power to involuntarily commit people THEY deem a threat (sans qualifying crime). Imprisonment under the guise of “help”.

Of COURSE this framework easily feeds into totalitarian desires.

Well he said the father seems like a nice guy. He should hold a big press conference, announce he is apologizing, and then say: “Sorry I called you a nice guy, obviously that’s not true.”

Dakota Meyer is a Medal of Honor recipient? Is that true? That doesn’t sound right to me. That’s an extremely rare honor isn’t it? What did he do to earn that?

$crew Bill Bratton. Any medal (with the probable exception of the CMH) can be given by the holder to whomever they want to give it to.

Yes, apparently he did receive the Medal of Honor. Good for him. He has deserves my respect for that. But he’s wrong about Trump. What else is there to say? Does receiving the Medal of Honor mean you’re right about everything you say for the rest of your life? No more than having your son killed in Iraq does.

“And Sarah Palin needs to have a talk with her son-in-law, because he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”

Sarah’s “family,” particularly “Hinges on her Heels” Bristol is a disgrace! A much as I really saw a lot of good things when she ran with McStain, I think her time in the spotlight should be over permanently.

My BIL had to fire DM from BAE due this over inflated views of self importance, ignoring confidentially clauses and information related to classified programs..... DM thought his views of programs were way more important. Ended up having to just pay him to go away.. DM may have done great things as a Marine, but in the private sector he is an arrogant a** with a huge ego and throw around the “ do you know who I am crap” too much.

I met him for 2 mins... could not stand him for 1/2 the time.

Sarah’s family seems to be a perennial anchor to her.

I still would like to see Trump use her in his cabinet.

I’m wondering who I should give MY Purple Heart to. On her deathbed, my mom gave me her first husband’s Purple Heart awarded after his death.

Seriously, though, I’m wondering what to do with it. It’s not in a box but resting in a book. I want to donate all of Charlie’s effects but don’t know where to donate to...

I hate to say this but Sgt Meyer is wrong on this issue.

A Gold Star Mother, Patricia Smith attacked Hillary Clinton for three things Hillary was directly responsible for:

1) Ignoring the security concerns our Ambassador to Libya and the safety of the annex there.

2) Failing to send in a security team to protect the annex and the ambassador when one was available.

3) Hillary Clinton lied to her face about a video she knew and told the egyptians was not the reason for the attack on the annex.

Let’s compare that with the Speech of Khizr Khan.

He attacked Trump in the name of his son:

1) Trump had nothing to do with the death of his son in Iraq, but Hillary did she voted for that invasion as a Senator

2) Khizr Khan held up the US constitution and said Trump needed to read it to understand our immigration laws, however the Constitution has absolutely nothing in it about immigration. Khizr Khan is also on record as saying that Sharia Law overrides the US Constitution and has written extensively about it.

3) Khizr Khan makes his money selling US citizenship to foreigners under the EB5 program, a program so corrupted by the democrats that Congress is trying to eliminate it permanently.

One of the biggest abusers of the EB-5 system is Tony Rodham, Hillary’s brother who along with Terry McAuliffe have made millions exploiting it.

In fact it may yet come to light that the EB5 is the biggest source of revenue for the Democrats and especially Hillary.

Dakota did perform heroic deeds and for that he deserves our admiration. But doing an heroic deed and being an overall good person are two overlapping but not identical traits. Dakota humiliated his wife, if rumors are true.

Some people who have performed heroic deeds might lack common sense (I know one personally) or even be Hillary supporters, sociopaths, or suffer from delusions. They may be outstanding in some areas of life but deficient in others.

DM worked for Oaysis, felt it was more important to openly discuss his views of sales to foriegn countries due his limited understanding of the larger chess game at play... when confronted he ran to the local media with his “concerns”

they negotiated a termination with cause and some money due to him being a CHM holder... anyone else would have been just fired and turned over to the DSSS for violating classified information rules.

He doesn’t need Meyer spouting off on it in public.

Yeah, a Medal of Honor recipient should be respected for his valor in battle—but not given a pass on the subsequent 70 years of his public actions in life.
