Priebus, Giuliani, Gingrich plot Trump 'intervention': report
The Hill ^ | August 3, 2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 08/03/2016 8:45:40 AM PDT by maggief

Top Republicans and political allies to Donald Trump are planning an "intervention" with the candidate following a disastrous two days and political firestorm encircling the Republican presidential nominee, according to a report Wednesday.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Reince Priebus, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Speaker Newt Gingrich are among those looking to talk with the businessman, NBC News reports.

The group hopes to enlist Trump's children, who have proven pivotal in advising the businessman's candidacy, in their effort to get Trump back on track after days of feuding on Trump's part that even his closest political allies like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has found inappropriate.

Trump insisted in a tweet early Wednesday that there is "great unity" in his campaign despite reports of internal campaign strife following an onslaught of negative attention.

The real estate tycoon feuded with the parents of a slain American Muslim soldiers killed in Iraq whose father spoke at last week's Democratic convention, then caught flak over his answers in an interview on Russia's moves in Europe.

Trump told The Washington Post on Tuesday he wasn't ready to back Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their primary races, despite them endorsing his candidacy, and he also swiped at Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.).

Don’t get me started with Beck.

Beck used to have a decent program and when he was on FOX he was often great, now like Levin he is insufferable.

Screw these idiots and the armadillo they rode in on.

Who are they anyway? Trump is the candidate, and they answer to him now.

Good freakin grief!

Acting like an ostrich never solved any problems.

Trump is self-destructing. Ask yourself: Does Hillary like what he’s doing?

What are you mumbling about now? Khan just called Ryan and McConnell cowards. Should they apologize to this weasel as well?

Khan is a conman

Donald Trump has said nothing wrong or untruthful in the last three weeks. The real problem is the Democrats and their mass media blowing up Trumps innocent and and not so innocent statements into major outrages #1, #2 and #3...PLUS they are currently getting traction for their lies and distortion.

This is not a truth war. This is a propaganda war and I will admit the Democrats/mass media have Trump down at the moment

I never said Trump should apologize to anyone. He should have been hammering 1.2% GDP and Corrupt Hillary, instead he obsesses on slights and does not have the ability to move past them.

Just what I thought. This is an all-out attempt to get people panicked into thinking Trump is mentally unfit so do not vote for him.

“How do you build a global company with insane profits and a personal wealth of over a billion while having Attention Deficit Disorder? Impossible.”

IMVHO Trumps brain works at supersonic speed.
Speed and swiftness that most people can’t comprehend. Probably where the charges of ADD come from.
In my limited experience that gives him the ability to multitask that scares the average person.
Probably where his ability to stay on message and engage in “personal” feuds comes from.
The man just thinks and plans faster than the average person.
Just to attempt to fully understand him, I would like to be a witness to the inner workings of his brain.
Just for one day.

“Trump is doing just fine. So well in fact that the dems, media and many in the establishment of the GOP are throwing everything at him they can think of to destroy him.”

The media, dems and gope are like Poland against the Nazis.
They are using bi-planes and horse cavalry in a stand up fight while Trump is using state of the art aircraft and armor in a blitzkrieg.
His weakness is in slowing down.

In my group of Trump supporters most all are concerned his extemporaneous quips on Twitter may well ruin what otherwise is a beautiful dream of his, and ours. Some things are best left unsaid.

I have been in hotels, airports, dry cleaners shops, credit unions

all displaying TV screens scrolling CNN anti Trump dog vomit. one feed after another, one lie and one distortion after another the few that show FOX haven't got anything better

Day after day after day after day

Yes, I would say the US media is united in a campaign to it display manufactured confusion and chaos in Trumps character and his campaign

There are millions of low info voters being fed this dog vomit, I have watched some of their faces as they read the screens

there is no Trump rebuttal possible to this North Korea style onslaught in public venues by a manufactured state controlled US media

However, he can stop feeding the pigs with personal comebacks, comment on facts and issues not people, make a few witty issue-based tweets, and let skilled surrogates step in and take on the personal qualities of democrat b-list actors like Khan, and confine his quotable comments to hard issues and to his opponents eminent unfitness. This will take EXTREME self control and skilled help

I hope Trump adapts

Yeah those really hurt him getting the most votes in the history of the Repub Party. Listen. This is not about the MSM. If you believe a single thing they print then you may as well shut the TV and not read the paper. The ALT media is what millions congregate to now. The MSM appeal to the diehards and the idiots. The man knows exactly what he’s doing.

“Key Republicans close to Donald Trump’s orbit are plotting an intervention with the candidate after a disastrous 48 hours led some influential voices in the party to question whether Trump can stay at the top of the Republican ticket without catastrophic consequences for his campaign and the GOP at large.”

Well sweethearts, you and the MSM just wrote your own obituaries.

I follow Trump’s tweets daily. Which tweets have caused you and your group such heartburn. 99% of his tweets are thanks to the cities he’s been to, information on upcoming rallies and hits on Hillary.

You don't read his tweets. You're full of crap. I read every single one. Either you're a flat out sub-cretinous concern troll or you have your head up Chuck Todd's butt listening for sounds.
