Vu will be on the November ballot as an elector – a constitutionally mandated stand-in for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Should Trump take Georgia, Vu will be one of 16 Georgia members of the electoral college who will formally decide the U.S. presidential contest.
Vu has just put out a statement saying that he cannot bring himself to vote for Trump in the November general election. And he might not vote for Trump as a member of the electoral college, either.

Are there restrictions on who the Electors can vote for?
There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states. Some states, however, require Electors to cast their votes according to the popular vote. These pledges fall into two categories—Electors bound by state law and those bound by pledges to political parties.
The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Constitution does not require that Electors be completely free to act as they choose and therefore, political parties may extract pledges from electors to vote for the parties' nominees. Some state laws provide that so-called "faithless Electors" may be subject to fines or may be disqualified for casting an invalid vote and be replaced by a substitute elector. The Supreme Court has not specifically ruled on the question of whether pledges and penalties for failure to vote as pledged may be enforced under the Constitution. No Elector has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged.
Today, it is rare for Electors to disregard the popular vote by casting their electoral vote for someone other than their party's candidate. Electors generally hold a leadership position in their party or were chosen to recognize years of loyal service to the party. Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.

Then Vu needs to be replaced as an elector if he won’t follow the rules.
This is a perfect example of how the electoral college fails the people. The votes in the primaries in Georgia are proportioned for the purposes of the nominating convention. Their representatives are predetermined to vote specific numbers based upon primaries. And then the second time through the roll call, they can “overwhelmingly” vote for the popular candidate. This getting a nominee.
But Georgia is not one of the 39 states handling their electoral college consistent with their voters in the general. Therefore, a member of the electoral college can vote for anyone they want on the day of the election.
If that’s the case, then why have an election if the determination has nothing to do with the popular vote. This is something congress and the president need to fix because the other states that do it right can change to this type of falacy. Because this allows a select few from the states involved to erase the vote of the people.

The term for it is “faithless elector” and in Georgia there is no law against him doing that.
He needs to be removed if he cannot respect and abide by the will of the people.
This would be just as pathetic if one of them said this about Hillary. This is simply unacceptable. We are a nation of laws, not men. When one refuses to play by the rules, they damage the system, which is more important than any one candidate.

IIRC, there was a delegate several elections ago who tried to change his vote from the one he was supposed to vote for and was barred from having his vote count.
There may be “no law” against Vu but you can damn sure bet the rest of the conservatives will remember who he voted for.

I know him though the county GOP. He should be replaced as an elector, if that is possible at this late date.
