I try to be reasonable, open-minded and logical. I try not to be melodramatic or hyperbolic. What I'm about to say sounds like it flies in the face of all that but I think I'm being true to my principles.
The plane load of 400 million cash that landed in Iran on an unlit airstrip in Iran was sent in secret and was divided in multiple currencies. It is claimed that this was a promised payment that was part of an arms deal between the United States and the Shah. The Obama administration claims we owe the Iranian Republic 1.7 billion dollars. When that plane landed, the same day, American hostages were freed. The Obama administration denies it was ransom for a money.
The first problem with this is that the present Iranian regime is much more dangerous as a state sponsor of terror as the Shah was not. So we owe the Iranian government nothing. We are giving more than one billion dollars to the wrong people who are also our enemy and the enemy of free people. It's a slap in the face of Americans and victims of terrorism everywhere.
The second problem with this transfer is more troublin. The Iranians are free to distribute this free money, paid by American taxpayers, to terrorists in multiple countries with those countries' currencies without any worry that it will be traced back to Tehran. This, my fear that 400 million dollars will end up creating a tsunami wave of global terrorism.
Tehran has the means to blackmail the world with global terrorism. This is also why they desire nuclear weapons. Tehran is determined to make Iran a feared global power and Obama likely just gave them the means.
I guess the worst thing is that Obama secretly abetted a terrorist regime. He thought he could stab the civilized world in the back in the dead of night.
Obama and Carter may have made war with Iran inevitable. TheLeft does that through appeasement in various ways.
400 million was frozen but the interest is 1.3 billion so further payments WILL be paid for by the American taxpayers.
How much will a USWar against Iran cost and how long? Will we need to occupy the country, and if so how many troops will be needed? What will be the effect on the price of oil and world economy?
Unlike Democrats, Republicans are supposed to be attuned to the actual cost and logistics of the federal initiatives they propose. So what will be the cost and logistical requirements of war against Iran?
What’s the price for human life due to terrorism? How high does that figure have to go before it gets too high to bear? What’s the price for the freedom we have left? If you’re worried about money perhaps the producers should all grow a set, arm up and end entitlements for all able-bodied welfare recipients. Our survival may depend on it, money-wise and production-wise.
So you don’t have any cost estimates?
Isn’t that like Democrats who are uninterested in talking about the cost of their proposals?
Talking about costs doesn’t mean you necessarily oppose the proposal, it’s just being realistic about budgeting, i.e. what resources you’ll need and where they’ll come from. You have no ideas along those lines, or aren’t interested? Do you handle your personal and family expenditures without paying attention to price tags and prioritizing your needs and expenditures?
The difference with the Democrats is that the expenditures never end because the social programs never end. The other difference is that Democrats spend on social programs to get people dependent and scared so that their reelection is assured election after election. Besides, it may never come to outright war but yes it will be very expensive.
That’s just it, you’re NOT thinking!
Still, a war comes with real costs and logistical necessities. What will they be?
I don’t have a cost estimate. Go ask a think tank or an accounting firm. America is a grave threat to tyrants by its very existence and so tyrants big and small very much want to destroy both the population of America and the idea of America. The monetary cost of survival is irrelevant.
Obama is far too cozy with the mullahs.
