He isn't a politician, but many are hoping the father of a slain Muslim-American war hero will become one after his powerful Democratic National Convention speech.
Leading the effort to get Khizr Khan to consider a run for elected office is Vietnam veteran and Democratic activist Tom Keefe, who launched a fundraiser on Wednesday called "Yes We Khan." The campaign, which aims to get Khan in the Virginia House of Delegates, raised more than $11,000 in just 24 hours.
Keefe, who also attended the DNC and was on stage with other veterans during Gen. John Allen's speech, told NBC News he met Khan at the convention and was struck by the emotional force of his speech. Speaking with his wife Ghazala by his side, Khan lambasted Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's call to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.

Northern Virginia for sure, and of course big cities such as Richmond, Newport News, Hampton, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Petersburg. Rural is much more conservative.
Northern Virginia is outvoting the rest of Virginia for statewide elections, Gov., Lt. Gov, Att Gen, Senate.
The House of Delagates is still soldly Republican, the state Senate is shaky.
The Richmond area has seen a lot of Northeasterners moving in and it’s changing the voting patterns.
I don’t know that we will elect another Republican Governor if things continue as they are.
Seeing as you are from California, it will seem more conservative in Virginia to you I’m sure.

Has been for some time, mostly due to the influx of Marylanders into Northern Virginia. Southwestern Virginia is still conservative, but they don't have the clout due to smaller population and money.
Yes, Virginia Beach is a very nice place, thanks I think to the nearby presence of the Naval Station (lots of military folks live there). Also, Norfolk is nearby - pretty conservative town as it goes.

The best bet would be to falsely quote Khan as saying that “Allah will not make Trump win. So if Trump wins, Allah is a false god, and I will convert to Christianity.”
I’m sure Khan’s Muslim friends would appreciate that, even if he didn’t really say it.
Norfolk voted for Zero 72% to 26% in 2012, hardly what I’d call Conservative. Only 3 places in VA voted more leftist than that: Petersburg (80% Black), Richmond and Charlottesville (White College Moonbat). Norfolk hasn’t voted Republican since 1972.
Well that’d at least be consistent with my brother, who although he’s a Navy vet is pretty left-leaning.
Norfolk is quite southern in its ways, though. Maybe not Alabama southern.
Contrasted with Mobile, Alabama, which despite having a Black majority, has a Republican Mayor.

I figured most of the liberal cancer came from DC workers living in Alexandria and Seven Corners and Arlington and such. I never thought Charlottesville would be lib outside of all the University staff and students. Maybe they outnumber local residents, I dont know.
I didnt think Virginia was so close to a tipping point. Breaks my heart because I really want to retire to a beach and Floriduh doesnt work for me. I guess I will be giving North Myrtle Beach another look. I really like VB though... I dont want to settle in Virginia Beach only to have virginia libs oppress me with their commie laws in the near future. I am looking 20 years ahead and dont want to retire to a state pthat will go commie lib between now and then.
You know it, but if the state goes commie lib, I will still be subjected to their oppressive laws in VB. i want to live free, not behind enemy lines. I am trapped behind enemy lines now. I need to escape to the freedom of America. I dont want to wind up in another commie hell hole. California already has nice beaches, I just dant stand the commie libs here and their Tyrannical oppressive politicians.
Sorry to hear VB is liberal. i assumed all the military ritirees and active servicemen kept it more conservative. Rats!
