Paul Ryan - Statement From Aide On Trump Endorsement

Statement from one of Paul Ryan's aides on the Trump endorsement:

"He appreciates the gesture and is and is going to continue to focus on earning the endorsement of voters in Southern Wisconsin

He "appreciates the gesture"? Isn't that lovely? He couldn't even be there tonight to get Trump's endorsement. To be honest, I don't think Paul Ryan cared. I don't. I think the media cared because of their narrative, and I think Reince cared, Manafort cared, Newt cared, Rudy cared, and Pence cared, but I don't believe for a second that Ryan cared.

Don't forget, Ryan was bashing Trump these past couple months, several times this week. Sample:

Paul Ryan threatens to sue Donald Trump:

Ryan first told The Huffington Post in June that his support isn’t unconditional, hinting that he wouldn’t hesitate to sue Trump over his proposed Muslim ban if the nominee were to become president and implement it.

“I don’t know what that line is,” Ryan said at the time. “But right now, I want to make sure that we win the White House.”

Paul Ryan at Koch Brothers:

The GOP is “trying to restore ourselves as protectors of the market, and not of the business, and that is the fight for the soul of our party we are in the middle of having right now,” Ryan said.

The House speaker is clearly a favorite of the Koch donor network, and he was received with a standing ovation and whoops. The audience interrupted him several times with hearty applause.

Holding a pamphlet detailing his policy agenda, Ryan noted that the House GOP policy platform was developed before there was a clear White House front-runner. “The goal was to then draft with that nominee and then bring this to the country,” he said. “We have a different kind of nominee now,” he added, sparking laughter in the room.

“It’s just unique,” he added. “But the point is, we’re out there running on this.”

He implies Trump voters should be repudiated:

The speaker warned that Republicans were “flirting with various forms of progressivism” and said the GOP has to “thoroughly debunk it, repudiate it with something better.”

Paul Ryan issues statement on the Kahn controversy:

America’s greatness is built on the principles of liberty and preserved by the men and women who wear the uniform to defend it. As I have said on numerous occasions, a religious test for entering our country is not reflective of these fundamental values. I reject it. Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Captain Khan was one such brave example. His sacrifice—and that of Khizr and Ghazala Khan—should always be honored. Period.

Paul Ryan says his endorsement isn't a "blank check" and indicates he could withdraw his endorsement:

In a radio interview with WTAQ's "The Jerry Bader Show," the Wisconsin Republican was asked if there would ever be a bridge too far when it comes to the GOP presidential nominee.

"None of these things are ever blank checks," said Ryan, who then added that Trump won the Republican nomination "fair and square" from the voters and delegates.

Since Ryan endorsed Trump in June, he said Thursday that he has not shied away from calling Trump out if it's warranted and will continue to do so.

"I said at that time, 'If I see a situation where our conservative principles are being distorted, I'm going to stand up for those conservative principles,'" Ryan said. "I'm not going to sit by and say nothing. That's what I said I would do, and that's what I'm continuing to do."

Asked again if there ever would be a point at which Trump could go too far, Ryan said, "Of course there is. That's with any situation like this."

He also said that Trump has had "a pretty strange run since the convention" in Cleveland last month and that it's a shame that Republicans aren't focusing on Hillary Clinton.

For those who argue why Trump did it, I understand, but I disagree. If this is about party unity, the one who has been a thorn in the side of it is Paul Ryan. The one who I think will continue to be is Paul Ryan because I don't think this is the last time he will criticize Trump or oppose Trump. Ryan was the one who caused national headlines initially refusing to endorse Trump. Ryan is the one who continues to run to the media every time their is a controversy or disagreement. Trump hasn't said anything bad about Paul Ryan until Ryan ceaselessly bashed him. Paul Ryan has made clear their differences.

The fact that he wasn't there tonight and gave a statement like that is just proof that the person opposed to party unity isn't Donald Trump; it's Paul Ryan.

Don’t care what Ryan is focused on.

Ever heard of a tar baby?

Time to stop.

Ryan is running the same triangulation game plan that the GOPe used to marginalize the TEA Party. Carpet bombing by MSM, frontal attacks by Dems and fragging from the GOP. Ignore him and he will have a free hand to back stab Trump all the way until November. Make no mistake: Paul Ryan is campaigning for Hillary Rotten Criminal.

The way to accomplish what you want is for Trump to defeat Hillary.

Fighting against Ryan and whatever some call the GOPe is counterproductive. Worse, it’s Hillary’s dream.

Stupid and suicidal.

Don’t play her game.

No, many of the base are howling mad tonight. If he doesn’t change and change soon, Trump is, sadly, in trouble.

Wasn’t about Ryan or the others. It was about the public’s perception of Trump and whether he is the kind of fair-minded well-balanced person they want to lead our country. Sometimes everyone does things because they help to achieve a higher goal.

Art of the Deal.

And just WHAT did Trump get from this "deal"? NOTHING!

Don't tell me it was Ryan shelving a floor vote on TPP...HE DIDN'T HAVE THE VOTE AND NEVER HAS HAD IT.

He and Trump have been friends for a very long time, but I doubt that Rudy pressured him. But IF he did, Trump should ask WHY he should take his advice, since his presidential primary run was one of THE worst ever.
