My regret is campaigning for inept GOPe Illinois politicians rather than actively seeking candidates to run for office and campaigning for them. No more.
Isn't going to happen, the people you referred to have armed body guards and are well protected. Those that are being shot are MOSTLY street rats with an occasional “innocent” that gets in the way or a stray bullet.

As I see it, Chicago will EVENTUALLY destroy itself like Detroit has but due to its massive size, it will take a bit longer. The democrats have done everything in their power to keep the street rats and poor right where they want them, on the Chicago “plantation”. Give them an occasional handout and keep them voting. Until the “civilized” population decides enough is enough, nothing will change.

As I see it, Chicago will EVENTUALLY destroy itself like Detroit has but due to its massive size, it will take a bit longer. The democrats have done everything in their power to keep the street rats and poor right where they want them, on the Chicago “plantation”. Give them an occasional handout and keep them voting. Until the “civilized” population decides enough is enough, nothing will change.
Additionally, look at the elevated union pensions sucking away money that could be used to make improvements, etc. I could go on and on about a lost city and its population. No wonder thousands of good people move to Wisconsin.
This and another thread today show two instances where progs have a chance to prove themselves worthy of taking guns from law-abiding citizens and deal with climate.
1. Reduce the murder rate in Chicago using whatever means necessary by 90 percent over the coming year.
2. Change the weather. You know, something simple: reverse the winds of a hurricane, pull the plug on a tornado, melt an approaching blizzard. Change the weather and maybe, just maybe we can begin to believe they have the potential to adjust the climate.
In other words, on both issues, put up or shut up. And by that, I don't mean impose a theory on the rest of humanity only to say in the end, whoops! Clearly, more laws won't work. Witness the stats on Chicago.

It’s a fact that an increase in gang-related shooting fatalities will result in a proportionate decrease in “merely wounded” gang-related recidivism.
In addition to free gun ranges, the city should hire Range Masters and instructors, who could teach gang-bangers in the proper techniques of marksmanship, such as not shooting their stolen pistols sideways; which effective defense loads to steal during home invasions; the importance of accurate followup shots; and, focusing on center-mass bullet placement.

How many had insurance? Probably none. A gunshot wound treatment in the ER is about 50k on the taxpayer.

Put together a task force of whatever number of officers or agents of the government it will take and arrest the leaders of every gang in the affected area...
