FBI defends Clinton handling of classified material, says markings weren’t conclusive
Washington Times ^ | 8/16/16 | Stephen Dinan

The FBI went to bat for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, saying that handling emails with classified information — even when it’s marked — isn’t enough to prove she had “knowledge or intent” to break the law.

In a letter to congressional investigators, the FBI’s chief liaison to Capitol Hill said Mrs. Clinton did handle three messages with a “(C)” mark next to paragraphs, “ostensibly indicating” the following information as classified. But Jason V. Herring said that’s not enough to show she was negligent.

Mr. Herring also questioned whether the laws against handling classified material in a “grossly negligent” way would hold up in court, saying the FBI has long been suspect.

“The fact that Secretary Clinton received emails containing ‘(C)’ portion markings is not clear evidence of knowledge or intent,” Mr. Herring said in a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Republican, and Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the ranking Democrat.

Mr. Chaffetz on Monday had sent a letter laying out four different areas where he said Mrs. Clinton may have lied to Congress and calling for her to face perjury charges, including over the “(C)” markings.

The markings are not and never have been the issue. As a classifying Authority, she had the Authority to determine that a document contained classified information, and Mark it as such.

Not only that she had the responsibility and allegedly the training to recognize when a document containing classified information. It doesn’t matter whether a document was marked secret, top secret, or any other clearances which I will not even name here.

It’s all very simple. She and her political hacks already destroyed over 30,000 emails. We have her word, which we know is worth absolutely nothing thatv there was no classified information in those 30,000 destroyed emails.

They are trying to keep our eyes off the ball in this case. She illegally use a private server, illegally destroyed information under subpoena, illegally destroyed information that was government property because at some point in its transmission, government computers, salaried employees were used in the creation, transmission or reception of these emails.

Think of the bottom line. They had a chance to get rid of all the incriminating evidence and they still missed some of it. Imagine how much was on the 30000 emails they destroyed.

And of course we are all asked to believe these 30000 miles only concerned Chelsea’s wedding and other inconsequential items.

Compared to her, Richard Nixon was an amateur.

That’s the key question!

Someone could have typed it and sanitized it. However, having that “(C)” show up is an obvious sign that’s not what happened every time.

The markngs are VERY conclusive in the military world.

But then again we have far superior leadership, morals, and yes, IQ in the military than that collection of clowns in the State Department.

Yup, it’s true.

For God's sake! HRC is supposed to understand what material is or is not classified based on it's content, not it's markings!

They don't hire some information guru with a special stamp who's locked in a copier room trained to stamp anything he sees that is sensitive!

HRC is the one who is supposed to know classified material based on it's content!!!! If not, she's irresponsible, negligent, felonious, treasonous, and a real $hit for brains.

In other words, she's really stupid.

I don't know ANYONE who ever saw a classified document who was ever confused about what was classified and what was not.

So when she instructed a State department worker to strip the headers off of material and send the body of it unmarked to her over unsecured channels, that was legal?

Hillary should be in jail instead of running for President of the United States.

Silly Hilly just thought the (C) stamped beside a paragraph was meant to draw her attention to that paragraph. The (C) was for ‘Clinton’, of course! An easy mistake that ANY Clinton could make! After all, BJ had a different understanding of the word ‘is’ than anyone else on the planet, so such mistakes are understandable! How could ANYONE doubt her integrity, or his?

This woman can break any laws she wants and then gives a middle finger to us all and not a frigging peep from the media or the DOJ.

(c) stands for significant CASH can be made selling the information based on content to the highest bidder able to make use of the information.

You have to think like a Clinton.

In a banana republic we don't really have laws.
They're more like guidelines. Savvy?

Jason Herring, acting assistant director of the FBI, reaffirmed in a letter to lawmakers Tuesday that the agency found no “clear evidence of knowledge or intent” by Clinton to mishandle classified information. He said the agency also “assessed that the facts did not support a recommendation to prosecute her or others within the scope of the investigation for gross negligence.”

The scope was deliberately narrow, one that required intent for recommendation to prosecute.
