Rokusuke Ei, the lyricist of what became known as "Sukiyaki"--actually Ue o Muite Arukou ("I look up while walking")--died last month at 83. He was known for penning the words to the song, but was better known in Japan as a weekly radio show host, something he did from 1967 until his death. This was his obituary in the Asahi Shimbun (newspaper).
