Math, physics and chemistry require the repetitious solving of all the problems presented in any given chapter that can't be done in class while the teacher is teaching.

The same goes with outside reading and the required book reports........

Sorry but I'm a firm supporter of homework..............Without the education my nephew received in high school, which required lots of homework, I doubt the educational opportunities which were open to him after high school would have been available.

An applied subject matter like math usually requires more work outside the classroom than other subjects. My opposition to piles of homework really applies to young kids who are still learning basic life skills.
