Washington state is moving ahead with its plans to allow scientific research of marijuana, sidestepping federal rules that critics say have hampered study of the drug for decades.

The state has a new marijuana research license that will allow laboratories to grow marijuana for scientific study. State officials expect to start accepting applications for the new license by January.

Good for WA for telling fedgov to get bent. For those who disagree, cite the section of the Constitution you believe delegates authority to fedgov to overrule the states in this matter.

Patriots beware!

Until the states wise up and elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that the feds cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, the corrupt feds can always threaten to withhold federal funding from a state to stop research, such funding arguably stolen state revenues.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Do you like the original Commerce Clause, or do prefer the modern day Wickard Commerce Clause?

So which do you support, the original view of the Commerce Clause, or the modern day Wickard view?

I told you Our Constitution, Not the modern view...what’s wrong in enforcing the rules our forefathers gave us...it got us through a lot, why not just continue with what we have...

You think Trump is going to waver from Our Constitution, Bill of Rights or Amendments? If you think that, your supporting the wrong person...

Agree 100%. Therefore, under the original Commerce Clause, fedgov has no authority over WA in this matter.

...it got us through a lot, why not just continue with what we have...

Did you mean to say => 'why not go back to what we had...'? Because what we have is Wickard, which is NOT the original Commerce Clause.

You think Trump is going to waver from Our Constitution, Bill of Rights or Amendments?

I have no idea why you would ask such a question in this discussion, but nevertheless, my answer is 'No'.

In the matter of pot, he supports medical marijuana and he respects the 10th Amendment right of the states to decide on legalization. Do you agree with Trump on this?

Why bother with nuclear medicine and bioinformatics when you can have potheads studying other potheads and get paid for it, in pot?

I don't agree with any ‘fad’ drug such as pot, nor do I agree with alcohol...having said that, I have seen what ‘medical pot’ has done for cancer patients, but I think as a recreational drug, it's a ‘salting’ process to heroin, cocaine, and other high end drugs, if you know anything about drugs, you understand ‘salting’...

I'm not sure how I feel, just because Trump says he would look at it, doesn't mean, that I as a supporter of his have to agree with all his stances...on this one I am more inclined to say no...

So you support the Wickard Commerce Clause rather than the original Commerce Clause. Otherwise, you'd leave it to the States under the Tenth Amendment.
