The Dubai Ports deal was good. They are one of the best ports management companies in the world

Don’t mix religious bigotry with business

“BS. Who do you think you’re talking to anyway, a bunch of ignoramuses??”

Well maybe you were asleep politically in the years before Rush started his show. Plenty of us weren’t and that’s why and how Reagan won the nomination and the Presidency. He wasn’t the choice of the GOPe.

Conservatives used to rely on magazines and newsletters to stay informed and organize in the years before the Conservative Entertainment Media Complex invented itself. Rush is a founding member of that entertainment complex. But he was never a conservative activist and he didn’t even bother to vote.

In the years following Reagan the GOP never nominated another conservative for President and Rush played waterboy for the Bush faction. Pretty hard to back the claim that the conservative movement got stronger thanks to Limbaugh.

” Plenty of us weren’t and that’s why and how Reagan won the nomination and the Presidency. “

Conservatives didn’t win it for Reagan, the Reagan Democrats did. Many so-called “conservatives” stayed away from Reagan just like they are doing to Trump. Reagan was HATED by the eGOP. Hated. Did I mention Hated?? The GOP campaigned against him as much then as now.

The media is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill over Rush laughing off Trump’s alleged ‘flipflop’ on immigration.

I disagree. I heard him that day, and turned it off in disgust.

He was either inadvertently (due to his Cruz love) sabotaging the Trump campaign, or even worse, possibly actively doing so.

Either way, I have been sickened by him, he's no longer the warrior he once was, no longer on the cutting edge, he's simply lost it. I rarely listen, stopped in late February when he went in the tank for Cruz, and did the opposite as he actively sought to hurt Trump. I tried listening again after Cruz dropped out, and simply find him so off the reservation, I no longer look forward to listening to him, and rarely do so any more.

He has gotten very comfortable. Often, I hear commercials cut him off as he exclaims about the time. Surely he can afford some interns to help with the tech issues.

“Don’t mix religious bigotry with business”

So it’s “religious bigotry” for Americans to be suspicious of turning over American ports to the control of an Islamic country? Bill Gertz and Frank Gaffney sure didn’t think it was a good idea.

Dubya was all for it, but then Dubya is the same genius who told us that “Islam is a Religion of Peace”.

Rush Limbaugh has never masqueraded as a newsman being objective. He’s a polemicist, an entertainer.

Meanwhile, scum-organs like the Washington Post and CBS spew their lies and half-truths daily under the mask of “news.” So tell me, who’s betraying their consumers?

Exactly . . .
The natural disposition is always to believe. It is acquired wisdom and experience only that teach incredulity, and they very seldom teach it enough. The wisest and most cautious of us all frequently gives credit to stories which he himself is afterwards both ashamed and astonished that he could possibly think of believing. - Adam Smith, Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759)
The reality is that, exactly in the process of turning the debates into hit pieces against Trump, journalism turned the “debates” into reality shows - and Trump is a star of "reality TV.” Journalism has given us a reality TV campaign. Not Rush Limbaugh.

Rush refused to pick a horse in the Republican race, because (unlike NeverTrumpers like Mark Levin) Rush refused to get into a position where he was on the wrong foot in backing the ultimate Republican Party nominee. Rush did stipulate that Cruz was the most consistent conservative in the race, tho - and that certainly is not any way to con grandma into backing Trump.

But Reagan Democrats played no role in gaining Reagan the nomination. That was entirely due to the efforts of conservatives organizing inside the GOP. People like Bill Buckley, Phyllis Schlafley, Bill Rusher. People with experience organizing campaigns as well as getting the word out to conservative voters.

The GOPe is as much an enemy of conservative voters now as they were back then. Maybe more so. If you notice the Bush gang are firmly in the GOPe camp. And Rush spent most of his career cheerleading for them.

I’ve been listening to Rush since 1996, and I’ve never felt he was misleading me .. or misinforming me.

Really?
Even with his flip-flop on Romney for 2012?
Or his pushing Cruz (who isn't qualified via the Constitution) in the primaries?

I enjoy listening to Rush from time to time. We started out
with Rush from the first. (He jokingly claims to be almost
always correct.) He is for the most part; but, NAFTA was
so far a bust! I didn’t know much about trade, NAFTA, and
all that. - A lot are jealous of Rush because he is good at
what he does AND has become as rich as Cresus doing it. -
Liberal talk show hosts are, predictably, failures.

Worrying about our ports being managed by a company based in the Middle East and subject to infiltration by Islamic radicals is bigotry?

I guess Trump's idea that we should ixnay on the Muslim immigrants until we find some way to screen them is bigotry too?

Life is too short to listen to Mark Levin.

Especially when there’s a killer 500 watt oldies station just a few kilohertz away.

My word...

Rush is “entertainment” first and foremost...

It’s a sad state of affairs that most Americans can not think for themselves and need a Rush Limbaugh to do their thinking..

Not going to read the Atlantic but Rush lost me as a huge fan for 15 years, bought all the books, subscribed even though I didn’t use his website, etc. those months ago when the NYT printed a story about Rush doing the bidding of roger Ailes and “Chuck U” Schumer behind the backs of us loyal listeners.

Like many FReepers I waited for his next show on the Monday morning after the article. I hoped he would deny and prove it wasn’t true. Or I hoped he’d do a mea culpa to us, admitting he was a bit star struck by being important and wined and dined by the big guys. And promise never to do it again.

Rush did neither. He ANGRILY defended himself without any leg to stand on. He was nasty and immature about it, not at all his pleasant funny persona. I was even a little shocked, because he was proving right then and there that he was NEVER the person we thought he was. We prayed for him through his addiction and his deafness and his personal issues. He was a huge influence on me. And suddenly he was not a decent human being. After the first break, he had obviously checked social media (and FR) and found that we weren’t buyin’ it. He was hostile and calling us haters.

He lost me 100% that day. I am very forgiving. You just have to ask for forgiveness.

I started to think about things that would have SAVED us from Obama, that Rush never mentioned once. Like WHY DOES OBAMA NOT USE HIS OWN SS NUMBER? WHY DOESNT HE HAVE ONE? If Rush had pushed that little tiny fact, that in 2007 it was found that candidate Obama DOES NOT PASS E-VERIFY, we would not have had him as president for 8 years.

But Rush never mentioned it. And there are lots of other examples. Rush was a plant, USING our conservatism against us, cashing in, and boy did he cash in. Saying some of what we want to hear, but “not too much” to upset the Globalists on the Right. It is no wonder he was buddies with the evil Bushes.

I’m old enough to remember Rush’s stance on NAFTA. Are you?

Yup. He clung to Daddy Bush even though Ross Perot was proving that the nation would have NO tolerance for it.
