Having heard plenty of Rush recently, this is my assumption.

The media is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill over Rush laughing off Trump’s alleged ‘flipflop’ on immigration.

Rush is enjoying the attention and egging on the drive-bys.

I was interested enough that I was actually going to read the article. Then I came to the following:
