Well, Chief, you know, you showed the country what happens when the police stand by and watch thugs attacking citizens exercising their rights to free assembly. Anyone on hand, anyone watching got their collective nose rubbed into what happens with Brownshirts on a disarmed population, which they were. If you can’t see that as an unprofessional disgrace, which it was, then at least admit it was poor sales tactics.
This is the same nimrod that had his minions stand down at that Trump rally in San Jose a few weeks ago.

Police have no requirement to protect anyone. They are now "law enforcement officers" - LEOs. They are not "peace officers."
You might be home invaded, but when they show up an hour later, they're going to want to see if you violated any laws in defending your family - and they will arrest you if you have. THAT is their job, as many people have discovered to their dismay.
This isn't to say that there aren't hero cops - there are. But when there are, they do it on their own personal morality, not because it's their job. A case in point is this police chief of San Jose in this very article - when Trump came to San Jose, he helped set up the thugs to attack the Trump supporters in the streets - and told his cops to stand down.
And.They.Did.
3 bay area cities currently have no police chiefs. I wonder why?
Maybe this guy ought to get out of Moonbeam Country and go be sheriff somewhere in Maine or Vermont and that might give him a better perspective on decent, honest citizens and gun control (as in the genuine non-need of it, so to speak). Kind of what happened to Detroit’s current police chief.
Cool. Draft a policy that police officers cannot carry to and from home. When they are off-duty, they are unarmed.
