WELCOME Chris Plante From WMAL AM/FM And Online.
I kept listening and the show got better.
Yeah, was clearly nervous the first hour. Then they trolled me with the Rush replay segment.
By the end, I almost wrecked a keyboard with that “ticking like Marisa Tomei’s biological clock” crack.
I liked what I heard of Plante
Yeah, he got better as the show unfolded. I have nothing against the guy.
Enjoy your Labor day FRiend
You have a good one too.
Why was Rush out? Vacation? Is Rush live today, or is this a "best of" show? Thanks...
Good grief... I meant to say: That was Chris Plante in for Rush last *Friday*, September 2nd? (NOT Saturday)
Boring “Best of” show. Listening to Best of Ingraham instead.
I watched a little of the Olympics. The still photos of the Japanese Pole Vaulter were “educational.”
Where in Maine??? I was just there in the Tenant’s Harbor area where we go every year.
Love the coast of Maine.
Love the coast of Maine.
We were "down south" in Maine... in Kennebunkport, not far from the Bush compound. Jeb's new mansion stands out among the buildings in the compound, as the shingles haven't "aged" yet.
I SO wish we had a giant TRUMP banner... we would've unfurled it and stood across from the compound holding it up. Just to tick off Low Energy Jeb, lol.
We also spent some time in the Harpswell and Bailey Island area.
We'll have to check out Tenant's Harbor someday... sounds nice. In previous trips, we've also spent time in the Boothbay and Bar Harbor areas, as well as in the Canadian Maritimes.
Love the Maine coast as well... just wish the water wasn't so cold! :-)
Thanks for the info. Wow, we've enjoyed Chris Plante on WMAL numerous times before. The little I heard on Friday wasn't that good... can't believe it was the same guy. Plante is usually excellent... wish we could have heard all of Friday's show.
To be fair, we only heard a little of Friday's show, as we were on vacation on the Maine coast. WGAN 560 AM (Portland, ME) had heavy static when driving in some towns along the coast because of the overhead wires. Really frustrating to try to follow a radio show when every other sentence is drowned out by static...
How I wish you could have unfurled a banner!
We go above the Bath Bridge every summer (the great cookbook writer, John Thorne, says it separates Maine from lower Maine which he says is the new New Hampshire!) to St. George Peninsula. There, we investigate the wilds of Maine which are FULL of Trump supporters. They are the people of Carolyn Chute novels and they fascinate me. If I wasn’t older, I would gladly relocate there with a tiny house and a fireplace and a cook stove. I just adore Maine.
I have one friend up there - Virgil and his wife Eleanor - he’s a lobsterman and tough as boot leather. My liberal guests held their noses while I chatted with this great man.
WGAN is also on 1400 in Biddeford area and low power translator 105.5 around city of Portland’s immediate area
We found plenty of Trump supporters - and merchandise in shops - in the Kennebunkport area (obviously not the Bushes, LOL), and saw many huuuge Trump yard signs in northern Massachusetts on the drive up to Maine. (We had to take a few detours on secondary roads to avoid accidents and traffic backups).
Saw pretty much NO Hillary signs or stickers. Lots of fading Bernie stickers though, lol. A couple of Gary Johnson yard signs here and there.
I admit I've never read any of Carolyn Chute's novels, but I remember she wrote The Beans of Egypt, Maine. Are all of her novels about Mainers?
Thanks, FRiend. "Low power translator" 105.5... Does that mean the radio station holds up better when driving around power lines? Less static?
Yes..like the Steely Dan song says, no static at all...FM...

Yes, Chute only writes about Maine. She lives in a house without electricity and with a husband who is illiterate! She’s a 2nd amendment advocate and leads a militia. She lives in the interior. And still publishes.
I, too, saw plenty of Trump signs in MA! I was shocked to be honest. And yes! Many fading Bernie signs, lol. Looks like we had a very similar experience. I love Maine so much.
