Ex-Fox News host secretly recorded Ailes: report

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson secretly recorded inappropriate statements made by former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, New York Magazine reported Friday.

Carlson recorded conversations with Ailes for at least a year and captured "numerous incidents" of harassment on her phone, the report said.

"I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago, and then you'd be good and better and I'd be good and better," one recording of Ailes speaking to Carlson reportedly says.

"Sometimes problems are easier to solve that way," Ailes, 76, allegedly also told Carlson, 50, at another point.

A source in the report says the recorded meetings with Ailes occurred between 2014 and 2015.

Carlson filed a lawsuit against Ailes in July. He resigned amid an internal investigation 15 days later.

I doubt he'll be sexually harassing any of the Trump girls.

Corruption is absolutely rampant in American society.

We're a nation in decline.

Does former Miss America Carlson think she was hired for her brain?

Would we know about any of this if Gretchen’s show hadn’t failed? If she’d been successful at it - not a peep would have been made, and she’d still be employed with Fox and subjecting herself to Ailes’s harassment in order to advance herself.

I’ve been very suspicious also, because we only learned about it after she’d been terminated by Fox.

I’d still like to hear from an expert in television who can explain how Carlson getting her own midday show, was a demotion. Her name was on the marquee, she was given sixty minutes on-air without cohosts-— she claimed it was a demotion & I don’t see how.

Her lawsuit against Ailes, clearly spelled out her dislike of Megyn Kelly, and jealousy that Megyn was given preferential treatment and assignments that Carlson should have been given. I’d like to know more about that as well.

My biggest complaint has been in the silence from Carlson, until her personal advancement ceased. So how many other women were subjected to Ailes’s harassment, thanks to women like Carlson, being silent?

Some men , despite all the many blessing , success and fame they gain , are just plain stupid jerks . Eventually they hang themselves from their own petard . A man without honor and morality is truly the scum of the earth and they deserve what they eventually get . Gretchen’s husband should be entitled to challenge Ailes to a duel with pistols , for harassing his wife so shamelessly .

There have been leaks out of Fox about Megyn Kelly, for years.

In addition, there are specific rumors about she and Britt Hume.

I disagree. Women are NOT "required" to look their best. No one forces them to either, except to point out that there's intense pressure AMONG THEMSELVES TO COMPETE FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE OPPOSITE SEX. This is a natural phenomenon.

Do women wear nice shoes to please men? HELL NO, they do it for OTHER WOMEN! Most men don't give a crap what women have on their feet. The pressure among females to OUTDO EACH OTHER is a natural phenomenon early as the hills. It's a COMPETITION that men have NOTHING to do with.

Exactly. While I don’t condone any ungentlemanly actions, when I hear that a woman stayed for years suffering this “harassment,” I have to ask - what was she getting out of the deal that made it so bearable?

“but can she get away with a secret recording.”

Looks like Murdoch does not want to find out. Why do you think he had to pay out $9 million to that female producer who sued BOR for sexual harassment a few years back? She had a recording. They settled.

You contradict yourself. Women are competing for the the attention of the opposite sex—but then focus on shoes in order to impress other women?

In the workplace, women have to meet the expectations for their jobs, and in something like television, there is a greater focus on their looks than there is on the looks of their male colleagues.

Is that admissible in New York??

In New York you can record conversations if one party to the conversation consents. That would be Carlson.

Contradiction? Seemingly yes. But actually not at all.

Females compete with each other to be the most attractive to males. This is 100% natural and instinctive, done without conscience. It is who they are, LIKE IT OR NOT.

So, females wear shoes as an adornment, just as earrings are an adornment because it makes them feel more able to capture the attention of a man even though most men don't give a rats arse about shoes.

The shoe thing has always been a mystery to me. Most women love shoes even though MOST men couldn't care less about them. Shoes are ornamentation, plain and simple. Just one more thing a woman believes increases her ability to capture the attention of a man. Women love shoes because they are a TOOL they can use to 'up' the bling factor in attracting men! I am by no means saying love for shoes is wrong.

The thing about shoes is how heels make women’s legs look longer and curvier.

And men of course compete with each other for women—only more on the money/power scale.
