Conservatives tricked into sharing bogus stories concocted by left
Almost all of us have been a victim of accidentally spreading fake news at one time. A trusted friend emails you a link to an article that is red meat for the conservative base; it sounds legitimate, and the name of the site even sounds official. You forward the article and post it on Facebook and Twitter — and then the backlash is embarrassing. Multiple people point out you’re wrong, and you feel like an idiot. But how were you to know, especially in this information overload, social media era? It has become normal to quickly skim articles and headlines.
It used to be The Onion was the only satire news site. And the site makes it very clear its news is satire. But within the last year, multiple sites (there is a list compiled here https://stream.org/left-busy-planting-fake-conservative-news-sites/) have sprung up that do not make it clear they are satire, if at all. They brazenly post fake news that isn’t even funny, like The Onion, but sounds like legitimate news.

The people behind RTN are pretty sophisticated. They even seem to have sanitized google searches about whether they’re real or satire.
While I understand your point, there is not another nation on earth that has our decent world view, is dedicated to helping, not hurting other nation’s populace, is not intent on occupying land, is financially able to field the forces necessary to project strength, and the willingness to use it.
That makes us the last bastion on earth.

Yes, but on the other hand, we need to practice critical thinking rather than just jump up and post every single thing that appears on an internet site. Half of what gets posted here as “news” comes from sites that are little mroe than glorified blogs and often contain disinformation.

Whenever I see an unknown site I always check what else they write and so should everyone else. Good keywords to search are “9/11”, “UFO”, “ZOG”, “USSR”, “communism” etc...
There have been quite a few articles on FR from UFO sites or commie/nazi sites.
They’ve sprung loads of Trump spam emails out into the Internet as well.
Problem there is most of these sites are liberal as well, and often times not correct either.
