Donald Trump paid his respects on Saturday at the funeral of conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly, 92, who passed away this week. We are here today to honor the life and legacy of a truly great American patriot, Trump told attendees of Schlaflys funeral mass on Saturday afternoon. A movement has lost its hero.
Trump met privately with the Archbishop in the adjoining chapel where Schlafly was married in 1949.
Trump was welcomed by the mass attendees with a standing ovation.
We lost an amazing woman and our county has lost a true patriot. A strong, proud, and fierce warrior. And thats what she was a warrior. A warrior for the country which she loved so much, Trump said. To quote a poet, Phyllis was that strength which in all days moved Heaven and Earth.
In all of her battles, she never strayed from one guiding principle: she was for America, and it was always always America first. With Phyllis, it was always America first.
This beloved woman had more strength and heart than 50 of the strongest politicians all put together, Trump said, adding:
She never apologized, she never backed down in taking on the Kingmakers. She loved her country, she loved her family, and she loved her God. Her legacy will live on every time some underdog defies the odds and delivers a win for the people. America has always been about the underdog and has always been about defying the odds. The idea that so-called little people that she loved so much could beat the system often times the rigged system thats the romance of America. Thats the story of the mother and patriot we honor here today.
When Trump had finished his remarks, attendees, once again, rose to give him and her a standing ovation.

Phyllis Schlafly was fearless and always advanced forward toward the enemy - a true warrior. We will miss you.
You have to face the fact that Donald J Trump is different from every other candidate that ever ran for President. He has’t been bought by anyone, and no one it the Political Establishment wanted him to run. He has no handlers, he has employees who give him advice and do what he tells them to do. As for the three campaign managers, each was suited for a specific phase of the campaign. Sort of like a multistage rocket. Enjoy the ride!
I don’t think we have any reason to assume Ivanka is responsible for so much. She seems very fine and he is said to have a close trusting relationship with her, but that does not mean she is the main impetus for most or many important campaign decisions. It certainly was not good judgment for Ivanka to be on vacation with Putin’s mistress in Europe this summer, although fortunately that story never seemed to get legs.... but it could have been harmful and was certainly an unnecessary move just a few months before the election.
“Trump was welcomed by the mass attendees with a standing ovation.”
BUMP! That is SIMPLY AMAZING! Not to take ANYTHING away from Mrs. Schlafly, but day-um!
America is SO ready for Trump! America is SO ready to stomp Socialists IN TO THE GROUND!
Excellent point! Kellyanne deserves a LOT of credit!
Can’t wait to hear what Ted Cruz said...(crickets)
Satellites need three stages to achieve orbit
My husband and I were also at Mrs. Schlafly’s talk at Agnes Scott College. There was a protest before her lecture and then all the protestors marched into the lecture hall. A very hostile audience.
Mrs. Schlafly spoke for an hour and then answered questions for 2 hours. She was 82 and stood for 3 hours. Strong in character and strength.
After the talk my husband asked her to autograph his 1964 paperback edition of A Choice Not an Echo. We received a beautiful Phyllis Schlafly smile.
From the book’s edition page: First Edition....May 1964 (600,000 copies) Second Edition...June 1964 (1,000,000 copies) Third Edition ....August 1964.
I had been giving those arguments thought, and believe you nailed the response.
Specifically:
1. He is different and I believe more qualified CEO wise
2. He hasn’t been bought, and no establishment support
3. He has no handlers.
4. He has employees who give him advise.
5. That’s why he hired them as employees, not the other way around
6. His campaign managers were hired for specific reasons, as you state, when their strengths came into play
Trump during his campaign has demonstrated an ability to get free air time, spend thriftily for maximum effect, spot a need for change and institute that change, and to pick some of the smartest people around.
The guy is exactly what we want for a president.
Is he perfect? That’s just silly. Nobody has said he was. He is very astute, and doesn’t need to be.
If we ever have to go to war, this guy will judge the effectiveness of our forces and make changes in real time consulting with our top military men.
I don’t mean to say he’ll run the war from the Oval Office like Johnson, but he won’t let a war drag on before making changes in a theater of conflict. You know exactly what I’m talking about I’m sure.
Anyway, liked your arguing points. Spot on...
In the article it mentioned they stood for Trump and Schlafly.
I think that is an important distinction.
He was appreciated for realizing her importance and honoring here with top level praise.
That doesn’t take away the fact they responded as they did both before and after.
His words were excellent.
He’s a leader. What can I say?
Somewhere around this house is a photo of my Mother with Phyllis. I am very thankful my Mom showered our home when I was growing up with conservative organizations’ literature, books, newsletters, etc. My Dad came on board later in life ;). Phyllis was indeed a fighter for freedom and the conservative cause. She will be missed. She will be remembered.
He ain’t perfect. Hell, we all know that. But he does the right things, and winds up at the right places. He won’t be sending reps to the funeral of people like that idiot Michael Brown.
Go Trump!!!
Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter and Kellyanne...yes. Has Michelle climbed aboard the Trump Train, yet?
Dang Guys,
Thats’good stuff,
How perceptive of Trump to use the word “Kingmakers”.
that was a very prominent word in Schlafly’s 1964 book “A Choice, Not An Echo”
In that book she dissected the politics of the campaigns of the previous 25 years and how the Kingmakers selected the nominees of both parties.
For us, that would be like the campaigns of 1992-2016.
She was brilliant and fearless.
A torch has been passed between the two most unlikely leaders of the conservative movement—a housewife and a blue collar billionaire.
Tell us another fun story uncle! You know everything!
You bitch about 3 managers. I see one got him through the primaries. I saw another who’s expertise was keeping the GOP in line for conventions. Then I see pit bulls to take him through the last 60 days.
Different tools for different needs. He is building a hotel. He had a guy to take him through planning and finances. Another to run the construction itself, and last, one to be a hotel manager.
He is smarter than you think. Ever notice Lewandowski landed at CNN and never talked crap about Don? That was Trump neutralizing the people who were after Lewandowski. “Hey, I fired him!”. Manafort? Where has he been running Trump down? I haven’t seen it. And no talk about Manafort, Ukraine, Russia.... again “Hey, I fired him”.
Just wait until after inauguration and you’ll see Manafort and Lewandowski ride again as needed. Don’t be so gullible.
