I’m not arguing the merits of the case. I’m saying that Target had the chance of settling for a drop in the bucket.
Everyday there is someone who slips or trips on the property of a big company and the company settles for more than $12,000. It’s just the cost of doing business in a litigious society.
If they had countered with a reasonable offer, they likely wouldn’t have faced a punitive case, but they countered with a snarky, insulting amount. They have an arrogance problem at the highest level of the company, and it’s costing them.
And that is one of the problems of America today...
