L.A. Times Stunned by Diversity of Volunteers at Trump H.Q.

The Los Angeles Times paid a visit to Donald Trump’s Southern California headquarters in Long Beach on Monday and was stunned by the diversity of volunteers who are committed to seeing him win the Golden State and the presidency.

“It was as if the whole thing had been staged, in Cambodia Town, no less, to belie the notion that Trump’s appeal is largely limited to older white males,” the Times‘s Steve Lopez wrote. In Long Beach, one of America’s most diverse cities, that same diversity was reflected in Trump’s supporters at his Southern California headquarters.

Lopez spoke with a woman and millennials of Filipino descent, a Mexican-American, and a Jewish man, and saw the “names of volunteers from the African-American, Hispanic and Asian communities” written on blackboards adorning the names of volunteers. He noted that “two middle-aged white people [also] joined the party.”

Trump’s grand opening for his headquarters took place this past Saturday, and Breitbart News was there to cover it. As Lopez was told, there were hundreds of people there over the course of the opening; many of them were able to enjoy a performance that was put on by dancers from the Khmer Arts Cultural Center, known as a traditional Cambodian “blessing dance;” something Lopez wrote he would have paid to see.

Lopez wrote that an unnamed Mexican-American Trump volunteer told him that “there are too many illegals here… and they dirty the place up and they take jobs and do things hey shouldn’t.” Lopez noted that once he found out he was with the Times, the man said “the only thing the Times is any good for is to wrap fish in it,” before walking away.

Deplorables? Ha! Those look like my kind of people. In fact that almost could’ve been taken the local brew pub. Well, you’d have to toss in a couple of bikers in leather vests sporting American Legion logos and a couple of young ladies in yoga pants just in from a run.

Leave it to the LA Times to highlight exactly what's wrong with modern liberalism. They look in the Trump HQ and what do they focus on? Labels. They look in and see a Hispanic, a Jew, African Americans, Filipinos... No doubt the Trump supporters like me would look in there and simply see a room full of like-minded Americans willing to work to bring about an better America.

I don’t know. I’d like to think more Conservative outlets would pop up, but under Reagan it got quite ugly too.

Rush popped up, and a number of other Conservative talk show hosts popped up too.

Could be. The papers sure went south, and the networks too.

I attended the rally with Trump in Costa Mesa earlier this year.

As an older white guy, I had expected the crowd to look much like me. Well, the crowd was much younger, much more diverse, than I expected.

I sat next to an Hispanic couple, that had driven down from Downey.

My sister-in-law was in attendance, I learned after. Two of her three grown children are married to Hispanic spouses, and one for sure is a Trump supporter.

Two college guys had driven all the way from Santa Barbara, that morning.

The only violence was by anti-Trump protesters, probably inspired by college professors.

There’s actually some REALLY COOL Iranians. I’ve met some extraordinarily smart and personable Iranians, people who I really liked and admired. (OTOH, I’ve met some real scumbags, namely an Air Force guy in the Shah’s military back in the day before the Shah was deposed. Guy was dumber than a box of bricks and slimmier than a bucket of eels.)

A few years ago, I went to a conference and one of the speakers was an active duty IDF colonel.

He showed videos (some mildly classified) showing the lengths Israel went to to spare innocents. And how barbaric the jihadists were, hiding in crowds of children etc.

He said at the end that Iran was their best hope for some kind of peace, Not the rulers of course but the people. Not sure if that is the case now.
