“Sometimes we’re afraid to think, I don’t know, in more utopian ways.”

Reckon there's no history courses at that school which bring up the 20th Century.

It's worth noting that it wasn't an agrarian, underdeveloped country that spawned Nazism -- it was a modern, advanced nation with a very high standard of living.

This is probably because people who live in a place where you can live comfortably even if you are completely unproductive will always find some zany cause to latch onto.

Is it somehow demeaning to women to talk of the founding fathers???? Even though they were men????

Sorry but I am one who seeks of "The Founders" rather than "Founding Fathers". The reason that I do is because even though the Signers of our foundational documents were, indeed, all men, the vast majority of them were married with supportive wives, many of whom suffered the travails of our Country's start.

Read the preserved letters between John and Abigail Adams to see her contributions to his efforts at the Continental Congress. Some of the wives and families of the men at war and in Congress had to abandon homes and become refugees at the actions of the British.

So I do believe that, given the mores of the times in the 1770s that allowed no place for women in office or military, one must give credit to the unit that derives from marriage and say "The Founders"!

Arthur went to extreme measures to hide evidence of his status because he knew he was ineligible.

Vatel is where they got the definition that was well understood at the time and is reflected in Minor vs Happerset

I do, indeed, take the Constitution very seriously. I will defend if with my life; but, mostly with the lives of those who would destroy it.

Historically, jackasses like these “students” only bray and make their ugly noises for a short while.

Then comes the long, long silence.

I would say that in 20 years from now, their biggest concern will be getting food for their belly. The people that have supported them[either willing or unwillingly] will be, for the most part dead and gone. They will be on their on and they will not have the intelligence to survive. Their future is as dim as a candle in a European fog.

Emphatic demonstration that intelligence is not, by itself, sufficient for wisdom. Wisdom is based equally upon perspective and, usually, perspective is based upon experience.

History is absolutely full of youthful enthusiasms and energy, we cannot have survived without that, as a society or even a species. Youth is when it is acceptable to dare, to take unreasonable risks or to go out in the unknown. It is also the age of blitz drinking, hazardous driving and 'Darwin Awards'!

As we age and gain experience, we realize that fads and fancies are things of a moment while reality is more seeing how things work and proper application of effort for good results. Any number of dead philosophers, you know - the ones who are ignored by the GWU arrogant youth, have written of how wisdom has allowed them to put their youthful enthusiasms into perspective. BUT, in today's academia, it is the teachers, as well as the students, who go for the flash and not the substance! I do fear for our country with these generations leading it!

This is why large university degrees are no longer taken seriously. Small school, Midwest or alternative certification was all I hired.

Had a co-worker hire a double degreed Architectural Engineer and send him to me. The guy could not be taught how to quantity survey urinal screens and toilet partitions correctly.

You are obviously one of those Republicans that want to do away with the requirement because of Haley, Jindal, Rubio and Cruz being ineligible.

Wish it was JUST the fragile snowflakes at Georgetown!

Photobucket

And before I’m accused of simply flogging the problem, the solution is to RE-ELECT ONLY those who pass Constitutional muster. Before you say “My guy’s doing a SWELL job,” check him out at http://www.gradegov.com/

WE STILL HAVE MORE TRASH TO TAKE OUT IN 2016! MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW!!

Immediate and Permanent LOSS of ALL FEDERAL FUNDS to this School is what Needs to Happen. Since the Constitution is Outdated then so is the idea of TAXPAYER FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION.

Are you referring to post WW1, pre WW2 Germany? Because if so, you’re mistaken. They had recovered from the economic hardships of the Treaty of Versailles because the US was buying their goods. Hitler actually couldn’t gain a foothold at that time and contemplated suicide. Then America lapsed into our Great Depression which also destroyed Germany’s economy. That’s when Hitler was able to commandeer the nation, viz. because the people were desperate for relief.

IIRC, Scalia responded much the same way years ago to the same question; through Article V the Constitution is infinitely amendable.
