The Hillary Clinton campaign moved Saturday to further distance itself from the re-ignited controversy about President Obama’s birthplace and long-time Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal, saying neither Clinton nor the 2008 campaign “ever” questioned the president’s citizenship.
Donald Trump, Clinton’s Republican presidential rival, revived the so-called “birther” issue earlier this week when he declined to say definitively whether Obama is a U.S. citizen.
The controversy gained momentum Friday when former McClatchy D.C. bureau chief James Asher tweeted that Blumenthal “told me in person” that Obama was born in Kenya.
On Saturday, 2016 Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon told Fox News: "As multiple, independent fact checkers have affirmed in the years since, neither the 2008 campaign nor the candidate ever questioned the president's citizenship or birth certificate."
The Clinton campaign on Friday made a similar effort to deny accusations about spreading the birth issue in 2008 -- when Clinton was in a hard-fought race with Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Blumenthal of Saturday told Fox News that he didn’t tell McClatchy that Obama was born in Kenya.
“This is false. Never happened,” he said. “Period. Donald Trump cannot distract from the inescapable fact that he is the one who embraced and promoted the racist birther lie and bears the responsibility for it.”
Trump, a leader in the call for Obama to finally make public a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate, said on Friday the issue is over and called for the campaigns to move on with substantive issues.
Still, he blamed Clinton for starting the controversy.

Yep - no question at all, Trump has some sharp edges.
However, as the choice comes down to Hillary or Donald it is an easy decision to make.
Also, much (most?) but not all, of the policies Trump promises to pursue are basically conservative positions so it's not as if we are reduced to voting for another McCain or Romney.
Even if he is only able to achieve a part of his agenda it will be much, much more than republicans have done in at least the last 24 years - maybe longer.

I am reasonably sure that since that date, the Sunday Standard has been coercively forced to retract that “mistake”..... If the people that wrote it are still alive, that is. :0)

BACKSTORY---The Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF) is run by Malik (in Kenya)---to honor Malik and Obama's late dad. It was fast-tracked by Lois Lerner for IRS tax-exempt status.
The BHOF is based at a Virginia UPS store, according to its website. The organization’s IRS filings list another Virginia address that is actually a drug rehab center where the foundation does not appear ever to have been based.
As first reported by The Daily Caller, the foundation was speedily approved for IRS exemption by Lois Lerner, the self-same IRS senior official at the center of the targeting of conservative organizations that have waited over two years to receive tax exempt status. The IRS thoughtfully gave the Obama Foundation retroactive fund-raising status.......which it stupidly never applied for.
To get tax-exempt status, the foundation cooked-up a mission statement: “to provide people everywhere with resources to uplift their welfare and living standards in memory of dad---Barack H. Obama: in the region of his birth, Kenya, and beyond.” Its guiding principle is “the inherent belief that no one can truly enjoy the riches he has reaped if his neighbor suffers....."We seek to elevate the human condition so that everyone can live in dignity and truly enjoy having one another as neighbors.”

Despite raising more than $250,000, the alleged charity doesn’t seem to have done much. Its website claims the organization has built a madrassa and was building an imam’s house as well as some “proposed latrines,” but there is no other evidence that the nonprofit was working to “mitigate social-shortcomings in areas of education and literacy, health and well-being, poverty, and lack of community infrastructure in such basic needs such as water, electricity, shelter and sustenance,” as the site says.
Alton Ray Baysden, a former Dept of State employee, allegedly a registered Republican, who helped start the Barack H Obama foundation, declined to comment before seeing copies of a reporter’s passport and govt ID, along with a description of the article’s “motivation” and “slant.”
Repeated reporters' phone calls went to the organization’s voicemail and were not returned.

So, do we have anything to show who in the Clinton campaign pushed the Birther question? The media is ALL over Trump for saying so, he needs some proof to back up his statements. I remember it being Bill Clinton talking about it....anyone got the goods on this?
Hillary knew a long time ago. She and Bill had pics of Obama in Kenya in Muslim dress
during the 2007 primary. But Uncle Teddy went ballistic, he warned them not to use them.

Yes, I have all that. The photos don’t prove one thing to hang it on Hillary....unless there is a link to her campaign or her from them and I don’t see that.
This article is pretty good, but the media is insisting on HER words and disassociating her from any campaign workers actions.
