Donald Trump Doesn’t Understand Food (Nanny-State Uber Alles Alert!)
The Atlantic ^ | 09/19/2016 | JAMES HAMBLIN

What we eat may be the most important issue before the country.

Last week The New York Times reported, “Donald Trump Checkup Said to Reveal He Is Overweight.”

This revelation was a prelude to the Republican candidate's appearance on The Dr. Oz Show on Thursday. There Trump appeared surprised by one question about obesity. The question was not about Trump’s own body mass, but rather what he planned to do about the metabolic health of American children.

It was a sobering moment, a reminder that concerns about Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton’s health should be dwarfed by concerns about how the candidates would affect everyone else’s health. The fundamental way that will happen is by affecting the leading cause of poor health in the country: the food we eat. On that topic the two candidates could not be more different.

Lets get a weight on the black and white cows aka Michelle and Hillary- both evidence and role models of an emphasis on good nutrition

I believe he’s over weight according the BMI scale. Of course, according to that every President we’ve had for the last 70 years was overweight. To me the Donald looks pretty robust for a man his age.

It is not up to the president or anybody else in gubmint to decide what anybody eats or does for their health. I generally do not tell other people what to eat but I think Hamblin should ESAD!

“free reign”

I’d have expected better out of one of their senior editors. Apart from that, the article was rather rambling, and failed to make its point.

He understands food well enough to be eating Hillary's lunch every day in September.

What we eat may be the most important issue before the country.

Wrong. Man-made global climate change takes the top spot. Followed by the scourge of Islamophobia. Followed by LBGTQXWYZ-phobia. This author needs to report to a progressive re-conditioning camp immediately.

“The fundamental way that will happen is by affecting the leading cause of poor health in the country: the food we eat.”

I’ll decide what food I’ll eat, thank you very much. If the Presidential candidates have the luxury of worrying about what we are eating, then there must be no pressing matters for a President to attend to, so perhaps we should dispense with the office altogether?

If this country were so worried about the metabolic health of children, it wouldn’t allow EBT cards to be used at fast food restaurants.

Hillary wouldn’t touch this concept of not allowing EBT cards to be used at fast food joints. Too many of her voters depend on those drive-thrus.

The voters don’t have to pay, and they don’t have to walk to get their free food. Man, what a life.
