I enjoyed reading the Wikipedia write-up on Nodier. Had not heard of him and found it very interesting.
I will look up Nerval as well. Looking forward to learning
" ... the utmost limit of his [Hoffmann's] achievement ... lay in the genre of the scurrilous, grotesque or macabre novel and short story... It was this part of Hoffmann's oeuvre which had the greatest impact, notably on Edgar Allen Poe, Gogol, and above all in France. When Gérard de Nerval for the first time looked across the Rhine, he burst into the cry: 'Le pays d' Hoffmann!' "
I remembered it because Hoffmann is my favorite German writer.
Consider Hillary’s campaign appearances. The limited crowds, the small venues where distracting lighting isn’t there. Perhaps these events are being controlled, to avoid another vapor lockup.
I had an appointment today with my ophthalmologist, who chatted with me about the elections (and her hatred of Obama, who ruined health care). She is also a professor at one of the leading university hospitals here in New York.
When we got on the subject of Hillary’s health, she also felt that a lot was being hidden. She suspects seizures; the eyes indicate damage from her stroke & concussion. While she respects Hillary’s intelligence, she does not consider her fit for office.
I just looped it so it replays forward and backward. Other than that, it’s swiped right from YouTube at the 1:15 mark or so.
