Sen. Ted Cruz Proposes to 'Stop the Flow of Refugees' After Weekend Attacks
NBC DFW ^ | 9/19

Posted on 09/19/2016 9:54:31 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Following the attacks in New York, New Jersey and Minnesota over the weekend, Senator Ted Cruz wants to stop the flow of refugees from coming into the United States.

On Monday, Cruz released the following statement that said, in part:

We must start by fully supporting our law enforcement community, from the heroic off-duty officer Jason Falconer, who neutralized the terrorist in the St. Cloud mall, saving many lives, to the FBI officers in New York who have worked swiftly to identify and apprehend the likely mastermind of the weekend bombings. We also desperately need the active participation of American Muslims who see the jihadis for what they are: the enemies of all who celebrate freedom and tolerance. Congress should act to prevent Americans who have travelled abroad for training from returning here, and to stop the flow of refugees from hotbeds of terrorism in the Middle East that President Obama is determined to bring to our country. We can’t overcome our enemies by pretending they don’t exist, and undermining our first line of defenders. Only together, clear-eyed and determined, can we defeat this foe.

Cruz proposed a similar plan last year called the Terrorist Refugee Infiltration Prevention Act.

Trump talked about this a long time ago.

Boy howdy has Ted Cruz just spiraled himself and his reputation right down the drain.
I used to like him well enough. I now would not give him the time of day if he asked.

But Ted, you are supporting Hillary. She wants more refugees. You are so confused Ted. Nobody can take you seriously.

Interesting point, because ultimately you’re exactly right.

It is remarkable that a forum which banishes and censors contributors with years of tempered conservative credentials for "anti-Trumpism" because it is feared that insufficient boosterism for Trump might lead to his defeat, tolerates even nurtures an atmosphere of "anti-cruizism" despite the obvious potential that offending the supporters of the runner-up candidate might also lead to Trump's defeat.

That Ted Cruz haters would prefer to reinforce one another in their triumphalism rather than unite the party against Hillary Clinton at a time when the default argument for Donald Trump is that he is not Hillary Clinton, reveals so much about them.

The debate is but days away and the election but weeks away but our zotting vigilantes are ravenously bent on breaking china rather than building a winning coalition. They would rather indulge their feelings of self-righteousness than accept that Cruz is one with them on this issue and offer that unity up to the world as evidence that Trump is right. Cruz is explicitly agreeing with Trump's position but that is as nothing because these purblind haters would rather Ted Cruz be wrong than Donald Trump be right -or victorious.

All this despite the explicit adjuration of Jim Robinson to refrain from this very thing so that the party might be drawn together.

There will be time enough after the election for zot-thirsty anti-globalists to a assail Ted Cruz and his conservative supporters but it will occur at a time when Ted Cruz and his supporters will presumably be free of censorship on this forum and able to fight back.

If Ted Cruz can stem the flow of muslims into this country I may forgive his past transgressions. Let’s see some action Teddy no more words.

Get with the program. This is the most important election, ever. Forget about the Gore, Kerry, and Obama elections. It was more important to burnish one’s True Conservative cred, then.

Good morning General!

Your points are well taken and noted but we also have to be mindful of the simple fact there is a two way road we are on as well. What has most upset is that Cruz continues to act as though everyone else is going the wrong way on a one way street. From reports I get from those who frequent the halls on the Hill, even an extended hand of Mike Pence to the Senator is met with scorn. It is Ted’s move to make now, especially after Texas AG Patrick has jumped on the train.

Here you sit, on a forum where people wouldn’t vote for Romney, for example, because he wasn’t conservative enough (or gasp!—because he’s Mormon), even though Obama’s defeat would’ve spared us years of suffering. Now, those same people are telling us to vote for Trump (as I will) because Clinton’s defeat is a paramount concern. Just not buying the reasoning, that’s all.

I think the point of my post was that it is time now to elect Trump, plenty of time after the election to crucify Cruz.

One of the best decisions that JR has made was to ban the extreme cruzlim minority from FR. Unfortunately you’re also right in that the ban probably will probably be rescinded after the election.

As for the need for DJT or his supporters to curry favor with an ever decreasing number of cruz fanatics, I don’t see the need at all. Elections are a numbers game. The person who gets the most wins. There are far more fertile areas to attract votes than from a small number of extremist scolds. Frankly, giving cruz the back of his hand might prove to be one of the wiser decisions DJT has made. He will win or not. And if he does win, he will owe cruz and his neo-wahhabist supporters absolutely nothing. And going forward that will prove to be a good thing.

“Welcome to the party, pal!”

The rest of the world is slowly catching up to the “radical” tenants Trump has been boldly shocking these sleepers with.
