The juxtaposition of drumbeats and chants of "No justice, no peace" filled the air on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 24) as hundreds marched toward Jackson Square in an act of protest against the four New Orleans monuments honoring Civil War era figures. For more photos from the protest, click here.

Take 'Em Down NOLA arrived at Jackson Square at 2:17 p.m., where a horse-mounted New Orleans Police patrol blocked access to the Andrew Jackson monument. At one point, protesters could be heard chanting, "We can't get no satisfaction until you take down Andrew Jackson," and some threw liquid-filled balloons at the NOPD command vehicle and spattered EMS Deputy Chief Ken Bouvier of EMS.

New Orleans Police Chief Michael Harrison said seven protesters were arrested during the event. One man named Chuck Perkins was escorted away by NOPD in handcuffs from Jackson Square. Take 'Em Down organizer Michael "Quess" Moore said Perkins marched alongside them in opposition to the monuments.

Harrison said police received information about threats regarding the event, leading the police to create a security plan to manage at least four different groups.

"We did have a couple of incidents that we were able to arrest people for without incident or no injuries to police," he said.

Harrison said there were no injuries to citizens during the protest. Although most of the arrests were for disturbing the peace, Harrison said they made one arrest for aggravated assault involving a man who was allegedly carrying a box cutter. He nonetheless stressed that "at the end of the day, everybody's voices were heard," and "everybody accomplished their goal" with the cooperation of the police.

Earlier, Moore and Take 'Em Down organizer Angela Kinlaw worked with others to begin the march from Congo Square around 1 p.m.

"We're gonna teach them how to

Yet if you threw a 20-dollar bill on the ground, they would probably all start fighting over who gets it.

That's all it is, is a narrative designed to scare chicken-s--t Republicans into apologizing and groveling. Nevermind that Duke received a standing ovation from House Republicans when he left the House, and hasn't been associated with the Klan since the 70s.

Some of what he is saying is the God-honest, brutal truth. I've listened to his videos and speeches and he is dead-on about how welfare and affirmative-action is destroying blacks and that Israel has too much influence in our government. If anything, Duke is trying to help blacks become better, more productive members of society instead of being exploited by elite leftists.

And most likely never happen again in the US. The police can’t even bring dogs to civil disturbance and they are one of the best crowd control assets ever.

Pookie definitely gets to stepping when the dogs come out.

"Folks don’t seem to understand that we here own more weapons per household than the rest of the nation and we are mostly crack shots."

Here in Montana the average number of firearms per household that has firearms is 28 ... and that is a 5 + year old stat.

Just curious, what is your average down there? Firearms ... not weapons.

Crack shots here as well!

It does not matter. He is a pariah and that is how he will be viewed and there is no way of getting away from it.

By the way, I never regurgitated any leftist spin.

He is a pariah

A pariah under the leftist construct of debate.

When have the Dems ever denounced Robert Byrd, who was in a higher position and stayed longer in the Klan than Duke?

I live down here and I agree. Most of the local blacks folks could not give a rats rear end about these monuments.

We saw how well the Baton Rouge police handled the BLMers and I'm sure that the NOPD will have no problems either.

I should correct myself. He is a pariah to the media elites and Ivory tower types and unfortunately these two groups have way too much control over the media and the public narrative..

I've heard David Duke speak and I agree with him on most issues but what I think and you think does not matter. We are little people. That is until, or if, we get pissed off.

This is a battle of images and public relations. People need to buy some flower bouquets and place them before the statue of Andrew Jackson. This is what the lefties would do. It is a simple thing to do and would catch on. The worst thing that can happen is to have a bunch of people yelling at each other.

"We're gonna teach them how to be human," Moore said in reference to anticipated encounters with counter protesters who supported the monuments.

no, you're teaching violent cultural jihad.

They also wanted the funds to build historical markers "that accurately inform the public of New Orleans history."

What alternate history would that be? That New Orleans was part of French slave culture? Newsflash: We won the war and ended slavery. Take it up with France.

I wish people would get smart and realize that this is psychological warfare. Southern whites and other whites as well have to show their presence but in a non confrontational way. People need to show solidarity and support by doing things like placing flowers before the statue of Andrew Jackson.

Well...overall number-wise, you have us beat...

But only until you dig deeper in the numbers.

Once you break it down racially, we win.

Louisiana has by far the highest incarceration rate in the whole world, per capita....So many here cannot legally own firearms, but many of the felons do anyway...Therefore many many non felons also own guns....Gun ownership here is driven by crime rates, and not just hunting/shooting sports.

When you break the numbers down racially and by legality, we here top the nation in guns per household.

And yeah, many of us carry.

Speaking of history......

About 12 million Africans were captured by Africans and traded to slave traders on the west African coasts for about 315 years.

Of those 12 million about 10 or 11 million survived their capture and transport to the west coast and passage across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World....Over 20,000 trips were made by African slave ships in those 315 years.

Of all the 10 or 11 million Africans that survived the voyage, only 388,000 were brought to the States and sold. All the other millions were sent to Brazil and other parts of South America, and the islands to be sold.

During the same period, over 7 million white Europeans were also captured and sold as slaves in the New World.

Simple history....Read all of it...don’t be selective.

I like horses. Nothing beats a well trained horse for crowd control. I'm only talking animals of course, nothing mechanical.
