Where he is failing is that he is not being specific enough. He repeats himself over and over. He is defending himself and should not be doing that. On the other hand, she is coming off as smug and condescending.
This is a presidential election, this is the big time. Trump has to keep her from taking charge of the narrative. This is the first debate. There are 2 more. Trump has to tighten it up. He has to take control and not give her any space.
