IIRC, in the 1980’s, there was a shortage in Russia....and we scr**** them royally.

There was actually a grain shortage every year starting in the 1960s until the collapse. Russia had to trade it’s vast raw materials wealth for basic food stuffs and by the late 80s the trade ballance was so large they where weeks away from mass starvation which is why the USSR collapsed.

Tsarist Russia exported wheat. Soviet Russia had to import wheat. And now Russia once again exports wheat. There is a lesson there.
