Full headline: 'Justice!' 9/11 families WILL be able to sue Saudi Arabia for billions after Senate and House override Obama's veto on victims' bill
Victims of 9/11 and their families were dramatically given the go-ahead to sue Saudi Arabia on Wednesday as Congress over-rode President Obama's veto on a bill allowing the lawsuits.
In a dramatic day, the Senate voted first to overturn President Barack Obama's veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.
It voted 97 to one against the veto - a situation called 'embarrassing' by the White House, which is furious at the legislation.

I agree with you.
“”Yeah I love overturning a veto, and the Saudis deserve this...but Im not so sure this law is a good one. Now anybody overseas can sue us...US pilots over Afghanistan?.””
EXACTLY my thoughts. What’s to stop a million Saudis from cooking up BS cases vs the US? What will we soon be spending to defend against the baseless claims by global commies? How on earth do be benefit from making it so that ANYONE on earth can bring any crap claim against OUR GOVERNMENT?! Imagine illegal aliens, or slave descendants, or “native” Americans (by way of Asia), or BLMs, or Occupy Wall Streeters, or Jesse’s and Al’s victim du jour, ... This looks like a lose-lose-lose to me.

Throw his Jack-Mormon ass off the tallest building in Vegas. Do it now.
I’ve been searching for it for several years and, so far, nada.
That said,
1)the Saudis have nearly all the money in the world and would want to and be able to quash any reference to that cynical and provable quote virtually anywhere it might appear.
2) Recent history makes a rather solid case that that is precisely what’s going on.
Remember Gulf War 1 when we sent American kids to (allegedly) save Kuwait from Saddam and Iraq? And where were the military age Kuwaiti kids? On the Riviera maxing out dad’s American Express card while OUR kids were humping through the desert dodging bullets??
Next question!
How do ya’ll not have the links to the vote results ?!?

Of course it was Dingy Harry.
It’s nice to see the president FINALLY overridden, but what exactly is the Democrat strategy here? Given the vote, Obama clearly knew he would be overridden, and furthermore, had to APPROVE being overridden - otherwise he still would have held at least a couple dozen Democrats with him, if not enough to sustain the veto.
So why did they permit this? To me it only makes Obama look like an outcast.
Anything that destroys the Wahhabi sect is a good thing.
Now hopefully they won’t have any more money to build mosques all over the US.
Sec. 1605B.Responsibility of foreign states for international terrorism against the United States
(a) Definition.
In this section, the term international terrorism
(1) has the meaning given the term in section 2331 of title 18, United States Code; and
(2) does not include any act of war (as defined in that section).
Sigh.
Feel free to blast me: The victims of 9/11 just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The families were given millions of tax-payer dollars and millions of charity dollars. Good for them if they can get more from the Saudis.
My question is...why do the families of 9/11 deserve more?
What about:
1. The families of the Pulse niteclub shootings in Orlando?
2. What about the families of the San Bernardino shootings?
3 What about the Boston Marathon?
4. What about the first Trade Center bombing?
5. What about the Oklahoma bombing?
6. What about all the airplane, rail, big rig crashes?
7. What about the numerous shootings in schools, malls, theater, etc.?
Where's their tax-dollar compensation?
I don't get why the 9/11 families deserve so much. We all die...sometimes peaceably...sometimes not. Think of all the thousands who die in auto accidents every year. Again, the wrong place at the wrong time. I know I sound callous, but that's not my intent. I'm trying to understand why 9/11 families got so much when others haven't.
The above said, I'm very big on taking care of First Responder families, as well as Military families. They deliberately run into the "suck", and their families deal with it every day.
Someone who just happens to die by airplane or bomb or domestic bullets or accidents or drowning in their own pools or slipping in the shower or falling of a cliff don't deserve special consideration. Stuff happens and then you die. We all do.
This is one more reason I despise the RINO's in DC. It's an easy pandering move in a political year to help them stay in power. Where have these people been in the 7 years Obama has written un-Constitutional Executive Orders? Where has the House been as he shuffles his slush fund around to appease Iran and others?
You are not on the wrong side just the unpopular one. If a sovereign government kills your people the remedy is war not enriching Democrat lawyers. Gee why didn’t our grandparents sue Japan? Why did my uncles have to shed their blood? My family could be rich! But there isn’t a statue of limitations and is there?
Don’t know. Could it be that they can hang Bush over this?
Throw Kaine and Sanders off the building too.
I know. This was my attempt at sarcasm.
CLEAN-UP on aisle 9-11!

Getting those SOB’s to pay up may be a problem.
For some reason, the words blood and turnip come to mind.
Who was the one?
This is excellent news!
Can we sue the families responsible, or just the country?
Having lived among Arabs in the Middle East, I wouldn’t put this quote past the Saudis. They are no friends of the US or any “infidel” country.
We will regret this almost immediately.
The House of Saud will now dump all of its U.S. treasuries. The petrodollar is a dead man walking.
Inflation here will skyrocket. Our dollars are headed “zim bob way.”
Our economy, already on life support, has now had its plug pulled.
