I don’t live in El Cajon, but I am not too far away. El Cajon is still majority white, with a large number of Spanish speaking and Arabic speaking folks (Chaldean Christians and Muslims). There are some African American, but much less numerically than Arabic speaking.

The report I posted said that “as one officer discharged his non-lethal electronic control device, the other cop started shooting him.” Understand, I dont’ want cops being injured, but in a lot of these cases, the “justification” for killing someone is suspect. Furthermore, each time we have one of these killings that are questionable, it simply puts more unfavorable pressure on all cops which only exascerbates the basic faulty interactions between them and the public. I am just waiting for some CCW person who has his weapon out in self-defense gets shot by a cop who comes on the scene and fails to properly assess what’s going on before commencing to shoot. The cops need for the citizens to respect them, but when they unnecessarily kill someone who doesn’t deserve it, they reap negative “benefits” for so doing. And unfortunately the good cop who gets killed because of the inappropriate actions of other LEOs ends up being just like the citizen who was just killed. Training seems to be “if someone has to die, it’s not going to be the cop no matter what!”
No. Just seems like there could be an alternative to the taser that would bring the perp down before a gun was used.
How about a blow dart from the old Tarzan movies?
