It would probably be not much more than a recompile. I wish they'd do it too. I have a copy of Win7 as a VM that I fire up occasionally to back up my phone, and suck iTunes songs off of. It would be cool to have a native Linux app for that.
Pong was slightly before my time, but I did play it on Atari.
But oh boy I did love Arkanoid.
I wasn’t paying much attention to the game; I liked seeing the artwork.
I have a new book which is supposed to reverse some of the Win7 stuff .. and go back to the XP version of storing your data. It’s been my major complaint about Win7 - I can’t find anything .. when I save a document - I can’t seem to figure out where the document went .. I search all over the place for it .. and sometimes it takes me days to find it.
Frustrating. If this new process can just fix that, I’ll be happy.
eddie, I am now connected on my Chrome book. However, the techy has left and I can’t figure out how to find ENLARGE TEXT. Suggestion? Thanks!
Never mind— I did find it. Not sure how to make it permanent in all cases everywhere. Didn’t see a “save” to the selected enlargement, but maybe it will stick. Thx. Rita

Most times the enlarged font will remain for whatever site you changed the view.
To make it more “permanent”, you need to get familiar with settings. Click on the very bottom right (where the time is displayed) and in the pop-up you will see “settings”. Scroll down and click on “Show advanced settings...”.
Then scroll down until you see “Web content”
From there I set the browser at 125% for all pages, and then customize either bigger or smaller for any particular page. (my FR page is set to 150%, so 25% larger than my new, default of 125%)
Both my daughter and my wife have Windows 10 and they both love it. I will be building a couple of new boxes soon and will go with 10 My old boxes will be running Linux Mint.
It was the "Page zoom" I set to 125%.
Thank you!
Okay, I did find the zoom, located it in the 3 vertical dots up page on the right.
I have not yet found “Web content” or “Font size”. The print is soo tiny that I may have missed it! HA! I’m looking...
I’m getting it, now, eddie. I got where you directed, but hit something goofy and up popped Japanese language. I am stumbling back to where you had me. Great advice.
I experimented with the large font when I went to Japanese, so need to correct that.
Also, I am having a hard time with “gdocuments”, or whatever it’s called.
I need to type up Meeting Minutes and be able to copy and send them for review. Really having trouble getting them into an email as an *attachment. But, first, I have to concentrate on getting this text enlargement conquered and then I will be all set to work on the transmission of a document into an email.
GRRR.
As you later replied, that was not the section I was talking about, BUT, that is a very important row of dots.
It gets you to just about everything you need (such as 'History') etc., but I use it all the time for the "Find" feature.
When you click that you get a drop-down box where you type in the word you want find on a page.
I use this many times when I want to post a clever remark (or not so clever) and search to see if someone has already made the point.
Also spend some time looking for "extensions". These are plug-ins usually found on the "Google Play" store.
Two very useful ones I have are 'AdBlock' and 'Ghostery'. They both make surfing much better and faster. (not spending so much time loading ads and trackers etc). And they are free.
If I think of anymore, I'll let you know. Feel free to ask me anything...I'm retired, have plenty of time, and have had a Chromebook/Box since March 2014.
Just checked on my machine.
To get to where the extensions are (they call it the Chrome Web Store) you can click on the bottom left icon, (hovering mouse over it reveals they call it “Launcher”) and a smaller ‘Google’ window will open with around 10 common spots to go to. ‘Web Store’ should be one of those options.
I am desperate to find a Windows 7 new install on CD/DVD.
In July I bought a new HP Envy laptop with Windows 10. It is making me crazy.
The system freezes. Only solution is to shut down with the power button.
The screen goes black for no reason. (Not sleeping or hibernating.) Only solution is to shut down with the power button.
A couple times when the system froze, a loud noise like a garbage disposal emanated from the speakers.
Most recently, the screen image shimmies and the mouse arrow is uncontrollable.
Geek Squad will remove 10 and install 7, but I have to provide the program — on CD/DVD. I’ve found some online, but most reviews say they’re not legit programs and don’t install.
A pox on Microsoft.
your biggest problem is whether W7 drivers are available for your particular device.
Even if you find a legit W7 CD/DVD (actually a legit license is the big issue), no guarantee HP drivers are available, and the douchebags at Geek Squad could install your W7, which provides generic device drivers and call it good, at which point you’d have a pretty crippled W7 device, in particular the graphics and sound wouldn’t be very good, and things like WiFi might not work at all.
In point of fact, HP W7 drivers don’t exist for your Envy and there’s no way G.S. will spend the time to try to track them down from the chip vendors, assuming they even exist.
Your best bet is to see if you can find a legit retail W8 license/DVD, which shouldn’t be difficult, and there’s a better chance HP W8 drivers exist. Don’t buy the W8 until you know for a fact that you can get the drivers.
W8 isn’t as far down the cell-phone-OS path as W10, and can be made to look and function pretty close to W7 by installing Classic Shell and a couple of other minor tweaks to restore F8 safe mode, nuke the lock screen, etc.
Nonetheless, I wouldn’t trust Geek Squad to plug in a blank USB stick much less do the above work. Hunt around and see if you can find a GOOD independent shop and go in and talk to a couple and see if they know what they are talking about.
Cool! I will snif around to find how to transmit my Minutes into an email And sending. Really, I have forgotten how to “copy and paste”. All your directions are very good at teaching, and really informative for me. I appreciate it soo much!
Thanks SO MUCH for the input. I despise Geek Squad but we’re new to our area so don’t know any independents. I’ll just keep the Envy as is, and resort to my pathetic Samsung netbook w/7. The Envy is heavy; I can use it for a doorstop.
Again... thanks!
