Another thing Trump should do is provide a cap on federal employees’ salaries such that their salaries do not exceed the average of non government salaries for any given job.

If automobile styling can get back to where it left off in the 70s, that would be awesome.

Bring back the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild Model Car Competition and you might see it. Damned shame that it died.

You mean to be able to tell a Chevy from a Ford from a Plymouth from a block away and determine the year by the bumper or the headlights or the grill ?

I think he should also veto any bill presented that does not contain an accountability clause. It must define what it intends to do (subject to legitimate government power), an appropriate metric, and a threshold and objective goal. If it fails to meet threshold goal within two years, it sunsets. If it fails to meet objective goal in five years it sunsets; if objective is met it may also sunset if no longer needed.

For example, believe it or not, Federal Student loans were intended to increase the number and quality of scientists and engineers to ensure we stayed ahead of the Soviet bloc. So an appropriate measure would be production of degrees in those fields, and scores on subject GREs. This could also force accountability in the text of the bill; these loans should have never been permitted for degrees in the social sciences. When objective goal is met, Federal Aid could have been reduced to a minimum until required again.

Trump needs this in his Ads and bring it up in the Debate. He needs to give some specifics so the average person understands.

Can you tell the difference between a 1930 Dodge, Ford or Chevy coupe?

if he does half of what he says he will, we are in for a treat. If we can just get past Hillary’s cheating and buying off of delegates.

In my dreams the phrase that would be repeated 10,000 times would be “this is not a legitimate function of the federal government”.

It’s good to hear this. He’s also talked about cutting taxes to revive the economy in the last debate. (Cruz supporter CAUGHT supporting Trump!)

A hiring freeze would be great, too.

Figuring a 40 year career, that means 1/40th of the federal workforce moves out of the federal workforce every year (2.5%).

A four year freeze would move out 10% of the federal workforce. An eight year freeze would move out 20%. The remaining will have to work a little more, and the unions will have to be dealt with, but it would be a great thing.

A good way to approach this is to appoint a hatchet man to be in charge of purging government agencies, one at a time.

Based on the military model, a commander is the “good cop”, and his deputy is the “bad cop”, the harsh disciplinarian, the hatchet man, etc.

While the inclination would be to have the VP do this, that is not really his role. He is designated successor, so needs to be unblemished.

Oddly enough, the best person for the job might be Ted Cruz. Already an outsider and disliked by many, he could address the bad guy role with gusto. A bobcat in the dachshund pit.

But whoever is chosen has their work cut out for them. He will have to be close to the Trump appointed federal prosecutors who will issue indictments to all those federal employees who blatantly and arrogantly broke the law.

Optimally, whether they get prison terms or fines means less than their being barred from future government employment, or for any government contractor.
