Show us some historical data from an actual measurement station if you want to make a point.

click on the links I posted if you want to see what real current surface data looks like.

You realize that that could be effected by the Eye, which is calmer. The Eye is moving through the ocean, the left side of Matthew is inland, and that’s where the wind speeds would be.

Would be better to have land based wind speed indicators rather than water.

This site would be better suited to prove your point...

I gave you the measurement station. Just because you don’t want to believe it isn’t my problem.

I saw your links as well.

You just can’t accept that there might not be some sort of conspiracy here. ‘Lucky break’ in the game of hurricane roulette isn’t some conspiracy. It’s something to be on your knees thanking God.

Well, if you actually look at the links I posted you would see that many of the NOAA weather measurement stations are inland or right along the coast. There are over 500 of them taking measurements. None of them are in the current “Eye”.

Like I said, not exactly trying to prove you wrong. Just observing that the link in the post I replied to with 500+ stations that I noticed where all bouy’s didn’t seem like landfall.

I clicked on the links in the post just above the link I just referred to, in post #64, and there are some wind speeds starting to escalate. 2hrs ago the gusts where in the 60s.

That’s 2 hour old data, the radar currently has the hurricane smacking Jacksonville over the last hour. So, let’s see what these stations report after a 2hr delay.

Whatever Agnes...

I actually live on the east coast in the original projected path of this storm. I have been tracking hurricanes for many years and always look at the weather buoy data to validate what the government is saying.

Roulette has nothing to do with being realistic and prepared properly. I have many years experience of offshore sailing and I was a navy pilot - so I have real training and applied experience with weather data. This includes sailing through near hurricane force winds and 30’ seas. I definitely have a healthy respect for bad weather.

Being overly alarmist does not serve anyone well.

HRC has already started to blame the hurricane on “climate change” and there is a definite agenda regarding that on the left / MSM. Regardless of whether you think that is a conspiracy theory or just an agenda, it is still overly hyped.

Your original story was ‘no major cat 3 winds seen’.

...

Not my story. I’m just looking at the data at the weather stations. Try not to take it so personally.

A maximum 33 mph sustained wind in Bimini is ridiculous compared to what they were predicting.

Yeah - that makes sense. If you go down the coast a bit to Cape Canaveral and look at the earlier data they had some measured gusts of 62kts (71mph) and sustained winds around 45kts.

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=TRDF1

I would expect winds to be at or lower than that and dropping as the storm moves up the coast or circles back like seems to be the case.

In any event, this is a significant storm, but no longer a “monster hurricane” and it has not made landfall / does not look like it will.

If you look at the historical data in Hopetown Abacos they had peak wind gusts of 47.1mph at 10am on 6 Oct & a barometric pressure drop to 29.65”. 2.49” of rain as well

http://barometerbob.org/

you will have to click on the Hopetown Weather Station link (upper left) and then select the history symbol to get to the graph of the last 7 days.

That is a location just to the right of the Eye as it tracked through the Bahamas where peak winds should have been observed.

Thanks for that. But that weather station went offline at 10 am on the 6th. Most likely the winds got much higher. At 10 am the sustained wind was just below 30 mph.

Early models showed it decreasing to category 2 and lower along the US coast.
