Actually, ‘we’ were watching the George Town weather station for a bit before it went offline. It was consistently measuring sutained over 110MPH and gusts of 130mph+.

Granted, accurate historical detail. Cat 3, maybe a 4 briefly.
But with currently pressures and wind speeds I can see via sensors, it’s a Cat 2, and a fairly compact one.

The forecast maps I saw said it would be a cat 4 up the FL coast.
The max speed sustained winds I see in that area so far are about 50-55 mph in a small area around St. Augie.

I was listening to the radio this morning, and the reporter on the scene was saying that the wind speed observed on the ground was 60 mph, but that wind speeds at altitude were as high as 100 mph.
The national news then came on, saying that winds were 100 mph.
Ever since then, every outlet has been reporting 100 mph.
Who gives a damn what the wind speed is at 2000 ft above the ground? Unless you are in an airplane, which I would not recommend, that figure is irrelevant.
Remember back in 2008?
About a week before the election, NOAA reported that September 2008 was the hottest September ever, by a large margin. It was a big story, and was used to cudgel Republicans, because it was "proof" of Global Warming.
Then, after the election, in Mid November 2008, it was reported that all of the data from Russia in August was "accidentally" copied into September, and that without this error, September 2008 was not particularly warm.
How convenient.
And then, remember the Inauguration in 2009? A few days before, NOAA reported that Arctic Sea Ice was at the lowest level ever recorded. Obama made this very point in his Inaugural Address, saying that the science was settled, etc.
Then, in February 2009, NASA corrected the calibration on the satellite data, and reported that Arctic Sea Ice was actually increasing.
As James Bond would say, the first time is an accident, the second time is a coincidence, and the third time is Enemy Action.
