I wouldn’t apologize....it a sign of weakness and only opens the door to more attacks.
He should say, I am a man, and any man who says he doesn’t talk like that with other men in the absence of women is a liar.
There is a way of framing the apology to minimize it. He should say that hearing himself say this now 11 years later makes him not only embarrassed, but regretful that he himself thought it was okay. But that was then and I am a much different person than I was then. Then he moves on to the issues that are important to the people and this country.
