WaPo: Winners and losers from the second presidential debate
WaPo ^ | October 9, 2016 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 10/10/2016 5:36:15 AM PDT by upchuck

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump clashed in often personal terms in the second presidential debate on Sunday night in St. Louis. I watched, tweeted and picked some winners and losers.

My picks are below.

WINNERS:

* Hillary Clinton
* Martha Raddatz
* The late, great Abraham Lincoln

LOSERS:

* Donald Trump
* The townhall format
* The Trump walk
* Mike Pence
* Bill Clinton
* No debate-opening handshake

No need.

We already know what the DNC wants us to believe.

The press says the town hall format was a “loser” because it diluted their ability to be more biased and to rig it for Hillary.

No thank you. The snipit already tells me everything I need to know. Martha lost, Clinton lost. Trump won. First, he apologized again for words, didn't run from them, proved they were unimportant. Actions count. He pummeled Clinton on topic after topic. Finally took her on, prowled the stage, owned Clinton, beat back the moderators. For a pro-Clinton setup, I was shocked at the cheers FOR TRUMP in the small setting. The moderators were as well. Luntz, on Fox later, found to his surprise, the same. Trump won nearly everyone over. They might not like him, they may express disagreement with his "potty-mouth" but they trust and want him more than Clinton. Last night was a good night, which I hope Trump capitalizes on this week.

No kidding.

I watched the first debate and was Politely (and Impolitely) disagreed with here on FR for saying that Trump didn't look good.

This second debate, he knocked it out of the park. The right tone, the right tempo, and he hit all of the right marks, including pointing out that he was debating the moderators as well as Hillary. These points couldn't have been missed by anyone who was undecided.

Both Dems and Trump supporters will see what they want to see at the debate, but looking at it through as unbiased a lens as possible can give nothing else but a victory to Trump.

And the "You'd be in jail" line is going to stick. That and the photo of Bill looking incredibly guilty.

He didn’t need to. The talking points were written days ago and refined just a bit during the debate. The MSM will be shouting from the rooftops that she won by a country mile and will repeat that until it becomes accepted wisdom. The technique of the Big Lie...

The Washington Post laughably tries to claim Clinton won. Stop the presses.

It’s been stated before but the media doesn’t even try hiding their bias anymore. Trump won decisively by any objective measure.
