Fox News Is No Longer a Top 20 Best-Perceived Brand Among Republicans
AD AGE ^ | October 20, 2016t | Simon Dumenco

New data out today from YouGov BrandIndex suggests that Fox News is losing its luster in the eyes of Republican consumers -- who, it must be noted, pretty much despise CNN and MSNBC more than ever.

It also must be noted that Fox News continues to dominate cable news ratings. Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. Credit: Fox News

To compile BrandIndex, each weekday YouGov interviews thousands of people from its worldwide panel of 2.5 million consumers to gauge public perception of brands. For its 2016 ranking of best-perceived brands in the U.S., YouGov surveyed U.S. residents and then sorted responses by respondents' self-reported political affiliation: Republican, Democrat or Independent.

BrandIndex scores range from 100 to -100 and are calculated by subtracting negative feedback from positive (a score of zero is essentially neutral: overall equal positive and negative feedback). Consumer feedback regarding a wide variety of brands -- including household brands (e.g., Cheerios) and media brands -- was solicited.

In 2014, Fox News was the brand 10th best-perceived by Republicans; Craftsman was No. 1, CNN was No. 1,291 and MSBNC was No. 1,293. Related Stories The Third Presidential Debate Summed Up in 31 Tweets 84 Rejected Clinton Campaign Slogans, Courtesy of WikiLeaks

In 2015, Fox News slipped to No. 15; Band-Aid was No. 1, CNN was No. 1,388 and MSNBC was No. 1,391.

In the just-released 2016 YouGov BrandIndex ranking, Fox News is now No. 50 among the brands best-perceived by Republicans; Band-Aid is again No. 1, while CNN has dropped even further to No. 1,470 and MSNBC to No. 1,471.

What's been causing Fox News to lose some of its luster with Republicans?

Not to worry—FoxNews can drop down to 1,000 or so if they keep up their pro-Hillary whoring.

Last night while voting on the debate polls at Gateway, the local FOX polls around the country were all showing a Hellary win. Someone suggested it was pay back to their Saudi overlords.

FOX used to be here 24/7. Quit them after too much Geraldo and Williams about 10 years ago.

They’re certainly not having a better day today.

Is nothing else happening on the planet other than Trump refusing to be Mitt Romney? Yes, Trump won’t promise to accept election results two days after O’Keefe’s videos dropped. He won’t roll over and play dead on command.

That’s all Fox is “reporting” on today. And Fox Business isn’t doing much better. Apparently, Trump is now doomed. Game over. Cancel the election.

I’m now watching HGTV because I can’t take it anymore. I officially snapped this afternoon.

Not watchable. Only redeeming talking heads are Barney & Dobbs. Hannity is bearable.

Fox News is just another flavor of Ben & Jerry’s Commie ice cream
with sprinkles of right wing red meat in it.

If I want to watch the news on television I will turn on One America News. Fox News is on my pay no mind list. They join CNN and msdnc.

I never caught the bug.

I watched maybe once a month fifteen years ago; I stopped entirely five years ago.

I have not trusted any teevee media for decades.

I went to Fox Business channel last night after the debate.

The best way for Fox News to stop the bleeding would be to let Megyn walk and replace her with FBN's Trish Regan or, at least, give Trish the 7 p.m. timeslot.

Bring on Laura Ingraham might help, too.

I'm not sure. I think they use to carry it. I haven't had Dish in almost two years.

One America News Network has a Roku channel? Did not know that. It’s now in my channel lineup. Thanks!

The Murdoch sons are liberals. They’re embarrassed by Fox’s (alleged) right wing image.

[[Hint to the Murdochs: time to change horses, and put the pretty pony out to pasture.]]

I agree. Shepard Smith has got to go.
