Look at your law: We stay innocent until proven guilty.
Ford’s pardon of Nixon was never challenged in court, and it was tacitly implied that if it was challenged, Ford would still be president for a few years and would just pardon Nixon for any convictions anyway, so the issue was left alone. In my opinion, a presidential blanket pardon isn’t ‘settled law’ at all, and the elephant in the room has just been ignored for forty years.
I agree with you. I would think that a blanket pardon in regards to all federal statutes applying to a certain action might be permissible. For example, and I don’t recall his exact verbiage, but it Ford pardoned Nixon for all crimes related to Watergate, then that might be legal. I can’t see a president being able to pardon someone for the rest of their lives for all federal crimes in the past, present, and future.
She’s going to leave the country if she looses so why would she be worried?
Read the Heritage link above.
Your link gives me the whole Constitution.
I’ve read that before. My stance is correct.
You must have pop-ups blocked. Their analysis includes the Founders commentary. It is contrary any your position.
From “Pardon Power”
“A reprieve is the commutation or lessening of a sentence already imposed; it does not affect the legal guilt of a person. A pardon, however, completely wipes out the legal effects of a conviction. A pardon can be issued from the time an offense is committed, and can even be issued after the full sentence has been served.”
It appears that, as of 1867, pardons could be performed for persons who committed crimes which were not yet known, but performed before the pardon occurred.
I stand corrected, unfortunately. This means the Clintons can be kept from all harms they've ever done, forever.
We will have to go after the Clinton Foundation and any new crimes they commit, going forward.
This is disgusting.
