BOMBSHELL: The same exact day that Cheryl Mills told John Podesta they needed to 'clean up' the email scandal, Virginia Governor & Hillary Surrogate Terry McCauliffe met with the FBI agent who oversaw the Clinton email case and his wife and promised financial support ($500k+) if she ran for office.
McCabe had nothing to do with the email investigation until he was promoted - long after his wife had lost the VA Senate race.
When McAuliffe's superPAC made the contributions the FBI hadn't even started its investigation.

Ah, but it seems to me that they might have presumed that an investigation would ensue, and then began planting the seeds of a bribery conspiracy. It was probably even multi-pronged for hedging/redundancy purposes.

I would actually consider the investigation to have started on the day congress issued the subpoena on March 4th. From there the future could be speculated and planned for. Needless to say I would guess the appointment of Andrew McCabe To near top position at the FBI would greatly help Virginia Gov. McAuliffe squeak away from his own problems.
If nothing else there should be a very serious investigation. And obviously not by the FBI.

I have a slightly different take on the “bribe” angle. I think that both McCabes were Democrat/Hillary loyalists well known to MacAuliffe. MacAuliffe needed a sacrificial lamb to run against an entrenched Republican incumbent; no one was jumping at a chance to lose, and he didn’t want to mess up other Dem alignments by forcing someone already in office to run and lose (VA districts are so gerrymandered they almost guarantee party retention, absent a rogue wave election. 2015 had nothing driving it).
I think Dr. Jill McCabe was flattered into running as a favor to MacAuliffe, so long as he provided the funding and professional management. Promoting Andrew McCabe was partly to reward the McCabes for this favor, and partly to put a committed Hillary Democrat in a position to help with her criminal problems.
Researchers would do well to look at the McCabes’ political history before this episode. MacAuliffe didn’t pick them out of the phone book. What donations had they made? Were they involved with Hillary’s 2008 or 2016 campaigns already? What did Andrew McCabe disclose to the FBI about his political activities?
If the money went directly to McCabe’s wife’s campaign fund, then after the election I believe she gets to keep whatever funds are left over and spend them as she likes.
Did the McCabes buy a new home recently?

Except that it wasn't long after. The first meeting took place in March of 2015. The election was in November of that year. McCabe was promoted in July to the #3 spot in the FBI and AGAIN to the #2 spot in January or February of 2016.Why does this matter? Apparently because Andrew McCabe was promoted (long after his wife’s state Senate campaign ended) to the position of FBI deputy director, where he had an oversight role in the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.
You and Norman Leahy have a funny definition of "long after."
