History will undoubtedly say that the Comey announcement that the FBI is reopening its investigation into Hillary’s emails that turned the 2016 race around and brought Hillary down. But that’s a false narrative.
Polling suggests that Trump’s gains predate Comey’s announcement.
So what happened?
• Trump’s negative ads began to hit in swing states. Until this week, Hillary’s attacks on Donald had been dominating the airwaves for months. But, during the past ten days or so, his negative ads — devastatingly effective — began to make their impact felt.
• ObamaCare premiums increases began to hit. While the full impact of the price hikes won’t be felt until after November 1st — in time for the election — the early notices that they would go up by an average of 25% with many even higher, had a big impact on the race. And Trump moved adroitly to exploit the increases in his speeches.
• Before the Comey bombshell, the drip-drip-drip of WikiLeaks emails had been taking a daily toll on Hillary’s vote share. The coup de grace was the memo from Doug Band that was written in response to Chelsea’s accusation that she had not done enough for her father. Stung by the first daughter’s charges, Band ticks off the deals that led to a $60 million personal profit for Bill Clinton, a list that vindicates the direst of the pay-for-play accusations.
• Hillary’s illness prevented her from campaigning more vigorously and her campaign staff, obtuse as ever, failed to give her new issues and material to use on hitting Donald. Once they ran out of abused women to complain about Trump, they had nothing to say.

It is true he went from 12 down to a tie in abc tracking poll.. before the Comey letter came out..

My admittedly pedestrian take on Comey’s recent turnabout is that he knew which way the wind was blowing. Pure CYA.
The headline is spot-on and he defends it with four excellent points. Just what,don’t you like?
Wayne Allyn Root thinks that the final wikileaks dump on Tuesday will contain a quid pro quo email from Hillary herself regarding some gov’t contract or foreign deal, where she emails, “First get the check for the Foundation.”
Root said that’s the smoking gun that Assange has been saying will put Hillary behind bars.
If there is such an email, that finishes her without needing the Weiner laptop.
I have heard about this final coup-de-grace from Assange. Works for me.
By all means, have out with it.

I don’t like Dick Morris because (A) he is always wrong and (B) not on our side. What he’s doing in this case is distracting from Hillary’s actual flaws. She is not very ill for one thing (although not in great shape either). When he talks about Trump’s negative ads, he fails to point out Hillary’s. The only actual flaw he points out is foundation pay-for-play. He leaves out the fact that she lied about her emails and has now finally lost trust of a fair number of people.
Some Freepers have an immediate knee jerk reaction so far as Morris is concerned.
I saw a Trump ad tonight here in Southern California. The TV was muted and I brought the sound back up as soon as I realized what it was.
I’d be absolutely thrilled if he carried all but the bluest states and scored a massive electoral landslide.
I don’t see a problem with it as the polls were starting to trend his way before this. In fact, the WaPo poll cut the lead from 12 down to 1 before this broke.

Yup. I never remember him being right.
No, actually here I agree with him, including his points as to why Trump had already pulled ahead before Friday. And no, I don’t think the polls have been accurate at all. I was saying here all last week, that what we were seeing were the signs of The election breaking to Trump before you could see the wave creating. The wave has crested now and everyone sees it, but for the first time in memory I find myself agreeing with Morris - it was happening before the bombshell.
History will focus on the bombshell, and so much else will be subsumed in that attention. But this election was already breaking to Trump before the bomb went off.
