U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, who unsuccessfully challenged Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, will campaign on her behalf Thursday in the Mahoning Valley.
The Clinton campaign did not immediately specify a time or location, but is calling it an "early vote" event. Those interested in attending should register on Clinton's campaign website.
Sanders is expected to discuss Clinton's plans to build an economy, raising the minimum wage and making public colleges and universities tuition-free, among other platforms. He is scheduled to appear at Deering High School in Portland on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. OH remains a tight race for Clinton and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Sanders' main role in the election post-primary has been to convince his supporters, especially young progressives, to support Clinton instead of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump or third party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. The Vermont senator has since endorsed Clinton for president.
Trump has campaigned in the Valley twice: an August 15 invitation-only event at Youngstown State University and a quick September 5 visit to the Canfield Fair.
My guess is that she has promised to make him Secretary of State.

The voter ID in the primary this year was 52% Dem, 48% GOP. Mahoning County last voted that Republican in the Election of 1930.
It's not just Mahoning, either - Trumbull County and several of Ohio's Appalachian counties to the south trended strongly Trump in the primary.
It's no wonder the're sending in Sanders, but it won't help - I am confident Trump will carry Ohio.

The gym can hold about 2000 for a rally like this. Not much parking in the neighborhood, but Bernie boys don’t own cars here in Portland. News showed a long line to get in so he is drawing more people than she is.

Berne betrayed EVERYTHING HE ONCE STOOD FOR AND HIS FORMER SUPPORTERS KNOW IT! I wouldn't be surprised if they show up in droves to scream "LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP" at the top of their lungs and to loudly BOO the disgraced "Sellout Sanders" off of the stage. Which trained monkey wrote this article? They are talking about Ohio, but unless there’s a city of Portland in Ohio with a Deering High (There’s a Deering High in Portland, Maine), it was poorly written.
