First Amendment law is robust enough that if journalists all told lies to cover up politicians’ felonies, they still would not be legally prosecutable for it... and probably that’s still the best compromise we can hope for in this imperfect world. However then it’s the responsibility of the people to either tune in or shun. If they just stand there with mouth agape drinking kool-aid like the fools in Psalm 73, that’s their fault. The law is not going to save them from that.

Only true if they are ignorant of felonious behavior. Criminal law (accessory before and after the fact) is applicable, considering the amount of coordination between the Dems and the media. The standard of proof should be high enough to avoid persecution, yet allow prosecution and conviction where warranted. Trouble, most times the media goes this far, nobody gets arraigned, let alone convicted. See Corzine, Laura Silsby/Reddit, etc.
