Per Ed Klein’s book, Bill Clinton was the driving force behind the Foundation turning into a slush fund. Ex-presidents are offered a comfortable retirement but he wanted Caligula-style opulence. Hillary merely wanted the reins of power.
Opulence, yes, but BJClinton also wanted to be able to continue to buy power.
What he and Hillary didn't anticipate was that '90s-style, bought-and-paid-for elections wouldn't work this time.
