Trooper Bonderanka said the officers in the 17-member Canonsburg police department responded to a call for a domestic disturbance at 3:13 a.m. and were ambushed upon their arrival. The call came from the occupant of the adjoining residence.
The officers Scott Leslie Bashioum, who was killed, and an unidentified officer who is currently out of surgery and in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital arrived on Woodcrest around the same time in separate vehicles. They got there within about six minutes of the 911 call. It was not clear whether either got out of his police car or fired his service weapon.
They were immediately fired upon, Trooper Bonderanka said.
The trooper would not say whether authorities believe the woman found in the house was dead at the time officers arrived.

I know this is a repost of the story from the early morning hours, but I wanted to ask Freepers to pray for his family,
The officer killed was Scott Leslie Bashioum. Him (always considered the "joker" of the family), his family, siblings, and parents are personal friends with my family and they have always been there for anybody that needed help at any given time. Scott's parents are caring folks who were bright lights when my Dad passed away in '13.
God Speed Scott.

I've heard it said that cops fear domestic calls more than any other kind.

Dear Lord please spread your loving arms around Scott and welcome him home. This is a heartbreaker. These types of calls are increasingly ending in police fatalities.
To: Kaosinla
Officer Bashioum was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served with the Canonsburg Borough Police Department for seven years

This officer left behind a wife and four kids. Folks,we have more and more empty chairs around our Thanksgiving table every year. Lets be truly thankful this Nov. 24 for all our family faces around the table. Any kind of family noise at our gatherings from crying to laughing puts a smile on my face. It could be worse, you could have a silent house.
