Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump -- who said he has a concealed carry permit -- called for the expansion of gun rights Friday, including making those permits applicable nationwide.
In a position paper published on his website Friday afternoon, Trump called for the elimination of gun and magazine bans, labeling them a "total failure."
"Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own," Trump wrote.

Totally awesome!
It’s not a joke. Valid CCW ought to be recognized nationwide just like drivers licenses.
I’d like to see a federal concealed carry law pre-empt state restrictions.
Those restrictions in states like HI, CA and NY would fall by the wayside.
It can’t happen soon enough.
Loving it.
To state the obvious, we will soon have a President and Vice President that are both members of NRA. That has GOT to frost the cookies of the left! LOL!
Id like to see a federal concealed carry law pre-empt state restrictions.
This is really a state issue and should remain so.
From September 2015
...but valid none the less.
WashPost Howler: Friday afternoon?
I think they meant Thursday afternoon.
Its Friday but its not even noon yet on the east coast!
Making America Great, and safe, Again
Trump should push legislation through the Congress that provides for National Constitutional Carry, and at the same time nullifies ALL existing State and Local Firearms laws.
Actually, if he can “pack” the SCOTUS, there are already laws that have been struck down by several of the Circuit Courts that can be overturned and give us the same result.
I still don’t see why I need government approval and registration to exercise 2nd amendment rights at all?
What next, a permit and registration for 1st amendment rights?
That would be awesome !
Article is from a year ago but still mostly valid.
National reciprocity, if not enacted by congress, will most likely be enacted by SCOTUS simply due to 14th Amendment considerations.
The problem is it will take at least five years to get a case through the court system before it will happen, just like Heller took five years.
“This is really a state issue and should remain so.”
So where does that leave people in RAT states? Sorry, although I am generally anti-Federal Laws, the Second Amendment is in our Constitution and deserves irreversable Federal Protection. Perhaps a clarifying Amendment eliminating all doubt as to exactly what the 2A means.
