The chairman of the House Tea Party Caucus and one of the first men to come out against Speaker John A. Boehner told Breitbart News that he does not think Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R.-Wis.) has the votes to keep his gavel.
I just dont think he has the votes, said Rep. Timothy A. Huelskamp (R.-Kansas), who lost his primary Aug. 2 and returns to private life after this session of Congress.
Huelskamp said he is concerned that the House Republican leadership is in a hurry to, first, get itself rubber-stamped inside the conference and then to proceed with an aggressive lame duck agenda.
Many House conservatives have called for the leadership elections to be moved forward from the scheduled Nov. 15 event, he said.
It is important to watch what the GOP leadership does before returning Ryan, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Majority Whip Steve Scalise, and Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers to their posts, he said.
The conference elections are by voice vote, which masks the weakness of Ryans support with House Republicans and could be chaotic if and when he fails to reach the required 218 votes when the new Congress meets.
There is no doubt Ryan has the support of the majority of the conference, but we will not find out if he has enough until January, he said.
You got to have 218, the congressman said. Just because you have 215 doesnt get you 218.
Huelskamp said he does not know who could possibly emerge as a rival to Ryan, but that also does not matter because the House rules do not require an opponent for someone to lose; all that is required is the 218 threshold.

Hate to say it, but some of the RINO’s calling themselves conservative and anti Ryan, will fold. If they don’t and Ryan is run, great. Paul Ryan needs to go!
Hey, Nehlen !! Got a JOB for you !!
When do they vote?
I'd say that is quite a bit different that what the headline says. However, this time you had better be a lot more prepared than you were the last time out. Now I am not defending Ryan in the least, but we ended up with Ryan because you didn't really have anyone in place to succeed Boehner. Do not repeat your mistakes.
the stunt he pulled right after Pussygate will likely not be forgotten about by Jared and Ivanka...the power behind the dad.
Well Ryan accepted being majority leader only if he would have a reduced schedule and refused to work weekends. So lets make his life even easier. Lets give him every day off.
could this be another prayer answered?
It’s quite known how he betrayed The Donald from the get go and now that The Donald is President - Elect I saw on the news
more than once within the past 24 hrs & how Ryan was all “Palsy-Walsy” with him.
So is it Chucky Schumer? Nanny P-Lousy ?
Awesome if true.
I haven’t followed this guy much.
What’s his agenda?
Good riddance, turncoat!
I still don’t want Ryan. He hates veterans, he hates Trump, and he loves passing money bills for Obama.
See post 11 - that seems right.
There were two other threads about Ryan that had an interview with Lou Dobbs stating they expected Ryan to be elected to speaker position.
This guy at post 11 is just trying to be relevant.

Dump Ryan
Or, perhaps stated more accurately, she had a price.
President Trump, we are counting on you to get RYNO OUT OF THERE!
Trump needs to use Pence, Newt, Sessions, to get the word to the House Republicans that a Speaker Ryan is unacceptable going forward. Also no shenanigans going forward in the lame duck from either Ryan or McConnell.
“Boehner didnt have the votes twice”
LOL. Boehner, “the crybaby” was Obama’s guy.
Without Trump’s support Ryan is history.
That’s why he spent the last few days kissing his feet at every opportunity.
SNAKE!

Speaker Ryan on his relationship with President-elect Trump
Good find.
It was a real shame to have lost Huelskamp, one of the relative handful willing to stand up to Boehner and Ryan.
